The Blind Bandit and Greatest Earthbender in the world

Avatar the last Airbender is an incredible show, especially the character development. Each character has their own story and the creators definitely did a great job taking they’re time to make these characters grow. One of these characters is Toph Bei Fong, one of the best Earthbenders. Born as the only child of the wealthy Bei Fong family, her parents saw her as a soft and fragile little girl that can't do anything by herself because she was born blind. That was hardly the case at all, in fact the opposite as she capable of being independent and she figured out how to see in Earth bending. When she was little she got lost in a cave and found giant badgermoles who were also blind just like her, by feeling and hearing how they dig and move around she developed a technique called the Seismic Sense which basically means with her hands and feet she can sense the vibrations around her to give her an image based on what’s around her, kind of like sonar. With this she learned the basics of Earth bending and she can sense who’s around her and even feel their heartbeats and can tell whether a person is lying or not. As she got older she competed in underground tournaments and was nicknamed the Blind Bandit and was the champion there. She also invented Metal bending which was considered impossible and can bend metal from meteorites. While she says she can't stand people who think she needs help, she will do whatever it takes to help when her friends are in danger. She also has a great sense of humor, Sokka is funny but Toph makes jokes about her disability and because her senses are so great her friends forget she’s blind and does jokes on them as well. What I like most about Toph is that she doesn’t let her disability bring her down or hurt her self-confidence, she’s willing to prove she can do anything people can do or do it better even though she’s blind. She’s a true advocate and has proven to do the impossible. She’s determined to show that she would not let her blindness stop her from living freely and fighting like everyone else. She’s awesome, funny, and inspiring and that’s why she’s my favorite.
