Malik is fiercely protective of those around him, especially his twin sister. While he is young and small, he wouldn't hesitate for a moment to jump in front of any danger that came her way or somehow get her to safety. Part of his protectiveness developed almost from the moment he was born after seeing how weak and feeble his sister was, and he vowed to always be there for her even in her weakest moments to make sure she was happy and safe. Most would think the task of defending someone as weak and easily tired as Pearl is, but Malik takes on his duty with pride and happiness, loving his sister and feeling as though she was his other half. He wouldn't want their lives to be any different or ever want to be apart from her.

With the schooling that Malik and his sister go through in ensure that they are well educated, Malik has learned quite a bit about life and thinking about strategies before diving into danger recklessly. While Pearl demonstrates more 'book-smarts', he shows a great understanding of the world and how it works as well as problem-solving skills that help him get out of different situations. While he'd rather be out exploring and playing, Malik doesn't mind his studies and actually enjoys learning new things about everything around him, and his favorite subjects are geography and herd relations.

One of his favorite games to play with his twin is pretending she is a damsel in distress in need of saving from some sort of beast, and when she is too weak or tired to play, he loves to tell her stories of the two of them on adventures to different places that they learned about in their studies and defeating creatures that have been plaguing the native people of those foreign lands in hopes that if she imagined herself on grand adventures that maybe one day she'd be strong enough to come with him.

It could be as small and simple as trying new foods or playing a new game or as big as traveling to new, distant lands. He enjoys doing anything and everything as long as it's fun. From the landscapes and climates to the creatures that call Hireath home, he wants to know everything, and what better way is there to learn things than to experience it firsthand? One day he also hopes to explore his homeland of Aquore that he constantly asks his mother about. His tendency to venture off can lead to trouble, however, and at times, he can encounter situations that are dangerous.

Being the son of the Emperor, Malik knows that he is very important, and as Malik grows older, this part of his personality grows worse, and while he is friendly, he knows that he has a leg-up on everyone around him. Along with his high opinion on his self-worth, Malik knows that he's quite good-looking and isn't afraid to use looks to get whatever it is that he wants. Some would call him a little obsessed with himself if they knew how crazy he was about ensuring that he always looked his best.

With his education and wits, Malik has found great enjoyment in getting what he wants from those around him. He finds it easy to try and get people to think in a way that he wants them to think, and persuading people is almost second nature to him. Malik likes to think himself and Pearl as the best persuaders that equine-kind has ever known since the two of them together can get almost anyone to do or think whatever they'd like.

Malik is very fun-loving, but at times, his search for fun can lead to rather mischievous behavior. He often plays pranks on his friends like hiding around corners and popping out to scare them and hiding their belongings so that they can't find it later. Most of his pranks are just silly and innocent, and he does it to get a good laugh every once in a while. Malik wouldn't have any problems or get angry at anyone playing around with him either and would take it as more of a challenge to out do their prank.

Pre-Group History
Malik was the first born to the concubine, Amara, and the Emperor, Hawkeye, with his twin sister, Pearl, coming into the world soon after him on the sandy shores of Sedo. From the moment he was born, he was full of spunk and excitement. Within minutes of being born, the little colt was already on his hooves and walking on wobbly legs around his mother as she struggled to give birth to his sister. He watched anxiously, almost sensing the being that he spent months with in their mother's womb, until she finally fell onto the sand. Her pelt was a startling white in contrast to Amara and Malik's dark coats. A little smile appeared on his face, and he nuzzled her shoulder as she struggled to stand. Malik could see the fear in their mother's eyes but didn't understand her worries. Using all of the strength he could muster, the hippocampus tried to get his sister to stand to no avail. With a small puff of exhaustion, he resorted to nestling beside her, listening to her pitiful cries of pain as Amara cleaned them.

  While his father ruled over Aquore, he was born in the land that the Serora herd called home, Sedo. His mother told him that they had been sent here to escape some kind of fighting happening in their homeland, and while Malik was curious and anxious to get to see where he truly belonged, he liked the sandy, arid landscapes where he and his family currently live. His favorite part was traveling the lands with his mother while Pearl rode quietly on her back, and he talked to her for hours to make sure she was as happy and comfortable as she could be. It seemed as though Malik never left her side, always wanting to make sure his little sister was protected and safe. He showed no annoyance when helping her with tasks like untangling her hooves during their short adventures or getting things for her like books or blankets that she couldn't get because she couldn't reach or didn't feel up to moving. Everything he did for her, he did it with a smile on his face, and their twin bond grew stronger and stronger as time went on to the point that Malik couldn't stand being away from her for long periods of time. Pearl was his twin sister as well as his best friend and closest companion.

In between study sessions with Ry and his sister, Malik enjoys playing outside of his family's temporary home, being sure not to stray too far away from his sister if she wasn't able to come out with him. Being one of those friendly faces and is easy to talk to, Malik made fast friends with the Seroran foals near his home, but when he sees the longing, sad expression on Pearl's face as she stares out her window, he abandons his games to spend time with her in the comfort and safety of their home where he tells her stories of the grand adventures they'll have one day in their homeland of Aquore.

Along with his fins, Malik has sharp spines by his eyes and jawline. His hair is curly and often gets tangled, and as he gets older, he'll more than likely keep it short or in an up-do to give him a nice, clean appearance.
