The handsome ladies man with a curse that makes him never age, die or even scars when he gets injured.
But his portrait magical reflex his true age more and more and the hideous selfish monster he is.
And is his only weakspot to break the curse into his horrific death.

And dont forget: if he ever looks to his portrait they swap age. The portrait becomes handsome again while he ages rapidly and turns to dust

Thats also right. I am glad you brought that up. Thats how he died in The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
But in his original story in 1945 and in the 2009 movie he died because he destroyed the portrait by stabbing it.
