Description This image was created with Vue d'Esprit 4. I then did some minor retouching in Photoshop 7.0 before releasing it to the web. I promise I will re-render this image at a higher quality when I have some time but right now I have so many creations that I want to render...

I have this image (plus many other images that I created) available at my website ---> [link]

Vue is easy to get results in, but you've gotta Photoshop 'em up hard to get them looking great.

First off, it's a bit washed out from the direct sunlight. Try duplicating the layer and using a Multiply or Overlay blend; you can adjust the opacity, but it'll darken it down and bring out the detail in the clouds, it tends to give it a more sunset kind of feel.
A soft focus layer is also a very good idea for softening the shadows - if you don't know, just copy the layer, set the opacity to about 30% and do a Gaussian blur at about radius 8.0.

Those are two pretty basic steps but they go a long way towards making it look better, after that you'll have to just play with adjustment layers, just keep trying thinks, I've got PSDs now of Vue Renders I did that have got about 6 layers of the image itself and another 12 or so adjustment layers.

Be careful with the lensflare too - you grow to hate it, and if you lose the source file (like me ) you get stuck with it forever.

You might want to mix the terrain as well, so it has the wavelines at the edge and changes to normal sand further up. It looks quite strange having parallel lines all across a beach and repeated in the water. Incidentally, you might want to try a water that's not so clear, to hide the lines underneath.

Compositionally, the trees being chopped off at the top isn't too pleasing, but the general layout is good. Try zooming out a little bit on the camera to fit it all in and give a bit more negative space, something that never hurts for wallpapers.

I hope at least some of this has helped... I've just been redoing a lot of my own Vue renders recently so am full of advice on them, lol.

Haha, I'm not used to seeing no jagged lines in rendered water. Liking the trees and height, but something about the bottom of the trees bothers me, not quite sure what though. Maybe they could use a bit of added shadow running from the trunks and across the sand or something. I'm of no help at this point xxx

Beautiful. This is the first time I've gotten this pic to fully load, and I'm glad it finally did. Actually, I first saw it on your website (which does kick ass ^^) and came back here to fav it. I love the beach...I wish I could live at my relatives' condo at the shore, but I can't. :.sigh.: Now at least I can always see a beautiful sunset. Another wonderful job. A definate fav.

hmm.. it only needs some more anti-alising and white wash and it'd be wicked sick.. but it's still good.. like the palm trees
