Description Chapter 1: I Miss You

By the time Don had returned to the "crime scene", there was a wreckage of Sellbot parts everywhere. The Vice President had called his Skelecogs to come clean up the mess and haul the parts back to the factory, where they could be manufactured and reused. Speaking of the Vice President, he was far too busy rambling to his Second-In-Command to even notice Don's presence.

"Can you believe the nerve?! Ugh, I swear, those toons just get worst and worst by the generation!" the Vice President fussed, as Mr. Hollywood A01-A0000 was trying his best to calm his leader down.

"I know, sir. But on the bright side, those three toons stood no chance, and we were able to send them to...wherever it is they go after their health runs to zero." said Mr. Hollywood A01-A0000, as he strides alongside his boss, looking up at him with a rather sinister smile.

"You are right...." the VP muttered, sighing. "However, that still does not make up for the chaos they've caused!" the VP hissed, jumping up into the air and landing with a thud, making the floor shake and both Mr. Hollywoods nearly lose their footing.

"I-I understand sir..." Mr. Hollywood A01-A0000 muttered.

Seeing that this was not the best time to come and disturb his boss, Don lifted himself off and away towards the apartment complex that was waiting for him in the Sellbot HQ.

Once he had reached his apartment (which only took four minutes), he landed onto his feet, his propeller vanishing back into his skull as he fished in his pocket for his keys. He then proceeded to walk up the narrow cement walk-way, the very small heel on his pitch black shiny shoes scuffling as he went. He walked up the two steps and under the small roof towards the door, where he stuck his key in the keyhole, twisted it counterclockwise, twisted it back clockwise to where the keyhole was vertical again, and pushed the door open. Cool air immediately breezed from the small home and he stepped inside after efficiently whipping his shoes off.

It was dark inside his brand new, vacant apartment. He clicked the light switch on so that he could observe the living space. Nothing but a desk along with paperwork stacked high sat on it, along with a TV just in case he would ever get too bored. Everything in the house either consisted of a grey or a very dark violet color scheme. He then moved past what he deemed was the "living room" and down the hall, where his "bedroom" was located. A single steel metal bed was placed against the wall with a charger bolted in the center of the room with a wire connected to it. The wire stretched all the way to the bed where Don would lay, plug himself in, and recharge himself. On the opposite side of the room was a smaller desk, much smaller than the one in the living room. A single night light stood upon it with a cup full of fountain ink pens. That was all.

Don sighed, as he walked over to his bed and laid on his back, pulling up his sleeve. He plugged the USVB drive into his wrist and instantly felt the power flowing through his system. He turned on his side to face the plug, meanwhile, clutching the straight jacket that the pink toon wore earlier to his chest. What was her name again...Jacky? Lefty? No, that could not be it. He knew her name started with an "L" and ended with a "y". Either way, he was missing her dearly already. He brought the fabric up to his nose and sniffed it, his systems identifying it as the sweet smells of strawberries and jellybeans...whatever those were. He smiled softly and closed his eyes, slipping into an unconscious state, her being the last being on his mind.

(Meanwhile...)

In the dead silence of the night, the only sounds that could be heard was the constant, bothersome chirping of the crickets and the occasional "hoo" of an owl. Laffy found herself laying in bed, staring up at her pastel purple ceiling. She had planned to go to sleep about two hours ago. However, in all honesty, all she could do was toss and turn, sit up and beat her pillow to be more comfortable before flopping back down, try a different and awkward position that would put her spine out of place by the next morning...anything! Yet, still, there was nothing. She just could not sleep.

She checked her lightly snoring clock, as it ticked to ten o'clock PM. She huffed and groaned, as she turned back onto her side to face the wall, her mind wandering back to those unfamiliar pale blue eyes she was longing to see...

She bit her lower lip with her buckteeth, getting a bit agitated with herself. She pulled the dark purple blankets to where they could rest right under her chin. She closed her eyes despite the fact that it would fail, as she could only think about him. How she longed and prayed that one day, hopefully soon, she could see him again.

(The Next Day...)

"Laff..." Light blue eyes.

"...Laffy..." Pearly white teeth along with a devilishly charming smile that made her practically melt.

"AY, YO! You listenin' to me, dog?" Dark slicked back locks that she just wanted to run her gloved fingers through and mess up purposely.

Laffy sighed dreamily, too engaged in her own fantasies to notice that someone had requested her to come back down to earth. That was, until something hit her in the face, almost knocking her off the stool she had been seated on and making her see stars. She shook her head and stared at her three friends, who were sitting upright in their hospital beds, wearing hospital gowns polk-a-doted with smiley faces. Their laff points were recovering faster than normal due to professional treatment. Laffy blinked, as Miss Mousey snickered, Quinn shaking her head and burying her attention further in the book she had been reading, and Taffy silently scolded her with a stare.

"What's gotten into ya Laff? We in da hospital because 'o ya and ya daydreamin'? What'chyoo thinkin' 'bout?" Taffy questioned in her ghetto slang with a slight New Jersey accent, looking at her friend with an expression of concern.

"Reading those cheesy romantic novels again, luv?" Miss Mousey teased, causing Laffy's cheeks to flush as she deflated a bit in guilt. It was the truth. Lately, before her capture, she had been reading up on some cheesy romantic stuff. Its just that instead of the main characters being involved in the plot, it was her and Don...

"Yo! Stop fadin' out on me, dog!" Taffy snapped her fingers in front of Laffy's blank expression, who shook her head and instantly came to. "Man, whatevah it is you got goin' on, like, you need a fix it mah guh."

"I'm sorry..." Laffy muttered, rubbing her arm nervously.

"Its quite alright, darling. No need to feel guilty. It happens to the best of us." Miss Mousey eyed Taffy, who caught the cream mouse's silently scolding gaze at the corner of her eye and rolled her eyes, as Miss Mousey continued. "There's no need to be sad. And speaking of sad," Miss Mousey paused, looking back at Laffy who had looked up at her friend in silent questioning. "How did you manage to escape without ending up here?" questioned Miss Mousey.

Laffy's fur came to stand on edge a bit, as she stared into those icey blue eyes, ones that were similar and reminded the pink rabbit toon of Don.

"Oh uh...I was...uh..." Laffy struggled to answer, for she knew if she told her friends of being rescued by a cog, they would surely have a field day. They would look at her like she had gone mad. And they would possibly laugh too. A lot. So much, to where their laff points would shoot through the meter and cause them to fall unconscious due to intense guffawing.

"It does not matter. All that matters is that you are safe and sound, even if it costed us our happiness." interrupted Quinn, the usually dead silent toon who had found a voice in the conversation.

"Well, I suppose Quinn is awfully right. My apologies. I was just curious." said Miss Mousey, as she went back to prompting herself in the mirror of which she was previously doing before Laffy had arrived. Laffy smiled softly, mentally thanking Quinn a million times for practically saving her backside.

"Its okay....I'm just...thankful for you guys. I couldn't of ask for better friends." Laffy giggled, as Taffy had reached over and pinched her childhood best friend's cheek affectionately, smirking.

"Awe shuddap! Ya gon' make homegirl ovah here blush!" Taffy laughed, as did Laffy and Mousey, Quinn just slightly smirking behind the book that she had her face buried in.

"Haha! I love you guys. Now, on a different note, I brought everyone cake just so they could feel twice as better as before." Laffy had gestured to the picnic basket she had picked up from off of the floor and had placed in her lap, opening it and pulling out plates with the slices of pastries sitting on it. The others' mouths began to water, as the orange and cream yellow toon cheered, the black toon nodding silently in appreciation.

For about an hour or two, Laffy had spent time with her friends before she decided it was wise to return back to her home, maybe stop by the Gag Shop and gag up before heading back out on the streets, possibly to Minnie's Melody Land for awhile.

As she walked down the awfully whist street, she could not stop thinking about him...how his blue eyes gleamed to life when they looked at each other, his delicate smile setting her cheeks ablaze, as the warmness of his body close to hers made her heart beat a million times per second...

She mentally slapped herself.

"Focus Laffy! This is not a romantic novel or a movie. Its just...reality. You can't let one simple little cog get to ya like that..." she mumbled pathetically to herself, slapping her hand over her face as she groaned.

Who was she kidding? She had fallen in love with the same mechanical beast that threatened destroy toons and take over her hometown, the one true place toons have called home way before the cogs started showing up. Yet, she could not help herself. Although she would never admit it aloud, Laffy was more fascinated with the cogs in a peaceful way rather then a rip-them-apart-and-study-their-insides type of toon. She wanted to sit down and get to know one personally, not only from their physical structure and build, but also their personality as well. What drives them to want to destroy such a wonderful place like this? What was their true motive for all of this? They could not all be brainless zombies like the toons describe them to be. At least, when she had met Don, she was confirmed of this.

She had attempted a very long time ago to get inside the mind of a cog by sitting down and having a conversation; to get to know him. However, lets just say, his feelings weren't mutual on such approach and as a result, Laffy had ended up in the hospital for a day.

She sighed at the memory. Good times...

Just when her mind had been clear of said being who even started her thoughts on such topic, he came right back around again as she approached her house, constantly staring at the spot where she made acquaintances with her first ever cog yesterday. Her frowned deepened, her ears drooping down at her sides, as her upper body hunched over a bit in sorrow. No matter what, she will always be reminded of and think about him. Always.

"I just hope he's okay..." she whispered, grabbing the knob to her house and opening the door. She had turned back and glanced at the spot once more, before turning around and dragging herself inside her home.

Same. To me, dialogue lets you get to connect with the characters more, get a more sense of their persona. Thats why in my stories, there's a lot of dialogue
