seven chevron make a gate address normally
6 symbols make up the coordinates of the destination while the 7th is the point. to gate over long distances (between galaxies) an 8th chevron must be dialed. a lot of power is needed to dial an 8-chevron address

I'd say it reminds me more of the melting mirror scene from The Matrix than of Stargate, but I don't watch Stargate either.
Nice work. The colouring looks great and the lineart is nice and crisp. I like it.
