long overdue kiriban for . part 1 of 3 images. (hopefully i can finish the 2 others soon). she wanted me to draw the progeny of Bathala - the supreme creator in one of the Filipino myths. this one is the eldest, Apolaki, the warrior sun god. that thing he's holding is a splinter from the sun. it was supposed to be a spear, but, well, i dunno what happened, actually. and, obviously, i'm not a master of anatomy, so do be kind.
the style's inspired by Josef Engelhart's curious marquetry panels of several characters from the arthurian legends (now in the Osterreicher Museum fΓΌr angelwandte Kunst).
*note - so i was a total idiot and confused apolake with malari. dev name's been changed. damn insomnia attacks.

Ang alam ko'y isa sa mga nagsusurvive na apilyido ang malari! In other words mga surnames ng maharlika! Binago kasi ng mga kastila ang surnames natin! Aztig nito!

siempre mali ang napost ko na pangalan. si malari pala yung moon goddess. si apolake yung sun goddess. yung naging surname ata, iba pang god yun... si Malyari.

Subalit ang alam ko na Moon Goddess ay Bulan ang pangalan. Ginamit pa nga yung mga pangalan ng Gods and Goddesses ng Pinoy Myths as characters sa Pedro Penduko movie eh.
