Description ... I met a boy who taught me to fly...

Granny Wendy is remembering her childhood. This was inspired by: [link] I always wondered what she'd look like as an old lady. I'm guessing we're in the 1980's here, so I tried to give her some new clothes. The walls in the back have a different pattern. Well, they had to redo the walls in all those years, no?

Can I faint now?

Of course I used reference pictures! I first made a scetch of the Grand Duchess, Anastasia's grandmother, to learn something about an old lady's features. She always reminded me of Wendy anyway. I guess it's because of the hair. She also has those little locks on the side. I'm guessing Wendy would take some of her old hairdo back, so I kept those. Then I looked at pictures of the adult Wendy and mixed their features togheter. I scanned, inked and colored.

Then the background... Oh my goodness... Actually, I am surprised because I thought it would take me even longer. I traced the OUTLINES of the window (everything that had to become blue). Just because I couldn't get the perspective right. I colored, shaded, put a texture on it.
I didn't trace anything for the room. I looked at the screencap and tried to recreate it. Same thing for the roof.

I added the colored Wendy and changed her size untill she had the right proportions according to the window.

Made some last adjustions, resized the whole thing and saved.

And here it is!

It is still not perfect. The reference pictures are way better than this. But since this:[link] was my first window, I'm satisfied with the result above

Please comment before you favourite
I'm open for suggestions. After all, I'm still here to learn.

Yeah, I'd say around the early-mid 1980s. Very nice!

According to the short film East of Kensington, Wendy would have never made it here. Β She would have gone on and on about Peter until her parents put her in therapy, which would eventually escalate to being committed for believing such an unbelievable thing. Β John would be forced to repress this, and Michael would be driven insane witnessing all of this.

Of course this is Disney and in Disney movies, it's not that uncommon to believe in faeries and magic! Gotta love the father's reaction when she's telling him all this though! "Mary, I'm going back to bed."

I'm interested to see this short film. Is it like a documentary?

I found it earlier, Thanks so much! Some pretty dark stuff. Interesting and probably more realistic take on the Peter Pan story.

This is all much to Peter's disappointment. Once she grows up, he will NEVER come back on meter how much she still believes in him,Β NEVER!

Very well done! I like how you have her aged as a granny. I've never seen an elderly Disney Wendy before! Tho she does resemble Granny Wendy from Hook too.

This is awesome, I love it when people older or younger-ize preexisting characters. Wendi is one of my favorite Disney gals. I actually cried at the very end of the 2nd movie when Peter Pan and Wendi see eachother again, and they both know they can't be friends anymore, and he just bows. It made me so sad!

Great job at drawing an older person. I don't know where I would begin.

When I first saw the thumbnail for this picture it looked like she had a mustash, but when I clicked and got a good look I could see the resemblence between Anastasia's grandmother.

Except for the fact that it seems her fingers are kinda of small, the rest of the picture looks great! The window came out wonderful, as did the roof and room! She herself looks great too! The only thing to make this better is a little Tinkerbell or Peter Pan's shadow hiding behind the outside windowsill. ^-^

I figure that even when her eyes are about to close for the final time, she'd still be remembering him. He's a boy one does not forget easily.

Thank you for such an constructed comment! It really helps a lot. Yes, the hands were difficult. I started big, but as I tried adding perspective, I drew them smaller and smaller. I didn't notice that they were too small.

Adding something that would imply that Peter or Tink are around would be nice, yes. I didn't have that in mind while I was making this. I wanted to focus on her and her memory. Neverland is a thing of the past. But I tried to keep the youthful spirit in her eyes.

A mustash? Haha, that made me smile.

Congratulations, it's one of the few constructed comments I ever give out. Mostly because intelligent sounding constructed comments elude me alot. ^-^

You certaintly did keep the youthful spirit in her eyes!

You don't have to, but having something to imply that Peter or Tinkerbell was there, would also add to the fact that Neverland never really went away. It's still there, if only in a small part, just like the youthful spirit in her eyes. It would mean that to me at least.

I still see the mustash every now and then when I looked at the small version of the picture. ^-^ Glad to make you smile!
