Well, yeah, but I get it at the same time. He played the post Time War Doctor, the one who was hardened against life, and once his character had made his way through his struggle, there wasn't much more he *could* do, so we got Ten.
The interesting thing about that is that he was the one who requested the role because of Roger Davies, and then he was also the one who decided to stop playing the role. In an interview he did, he pretty much said that he simply wanted the privilege of reintroducing the Doctor. I thought that was kind of cool.

David's got the fan girls...that's prob why XD and Chris only played for one season David's played in 3.5...including the specials
but some of my favorite scenes and moments are in season 1...like in Boom Town when the Slitheen chick is trying to teleport away and the Doctor keeps making her come back XD and the scene at the dinner table where she's trying to kill him and he keep thwarting her without paying much attention XD definitely one of my favorite episodes
