Description September 17, 2012
Sharpie and GIMP

First project for Graphic Design II class--design a poster, postcard, and business card as a matching set, advertising a fictional exhibition for a historical or contemporary designer. I chose Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, one of the four founders of the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. I'd describe her style as half Mucha, half Klimt.

Textures from ~lostandtaken
Typeface is Hill House, based on architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh's handwriting (he was Margaret's husband).

When I first saw this, I assumed it was a copy of an existing poster. It's nicely conceived.

I really like the style here which you describe as 'half Mucha, half Klimt'! and I also like the typeface that you used - very effective advertising art, especially in this palette of red, black & white - A+

Thanks so much, Judy! I think I use red, black, and white too much in my school projects

wow I really like this your design reminds me very much of the Wiener WerkstΓ€tte of the 1900's.
