I also prefer this edited version over the older one. I think the more classic spider-man eyes works better with the almost retro feel to the poster.

Yea, I received some feedback saying the other one was too round and almost 3D in appearance, that it didn't match with the flat styles of the rest. I like this one better as well

With the first one were you taking inspiration from the recent movies?

Yep! there was no real basis from where I took inspiration from for each character, some where the movies, others were the cartoon version. I just picked which versions seemingly went best with the style.
In Spiderman's case I definitely picked the wrong version at first.

I wouldn't be so hard on yourself. You tried something, it didn't seem to work, you adjusted it and got something better. Sounds like a decent course of action to me.

This is the one I would love as a poster. It's gorgeous in its simplicity. I'm practically drooling over it.
