My friend was trying to figure out an awesome costume to wear for his work's Halloween costume contest, and I suggested he be Rocket Raccoon from "Guardians of the Galaxy." He is a pretty short guy, so we both thought it would be funny. It needed to be comfortable and wearable while serving with minimal make up, plus I only had a few days to make it.

The pants/shirt were store bought and embellished with faux leather. We had trouble finding the bright orange of the most well known uniform Rocket wears and instead went with a maroon. The head piece and tail patterns were hand drafted and then sewn of faux fur. I also constructed the giant gun from a paper towel roll, two toilet paper rolls, an amazon box and a Blue Moon carton which were then hand painted with acrylics.

I think it turned out fantastic! However, we didn't win. The managers said that the character wasn't well known enough... womp womp.

I wore my CATS costume on Halloween and we went to the same party. I said I was Rocket Raccoon's girlfriend!
