EDIT: I found a typo and forgot a time travel line. Those are now fixed. Also, Blaze's fate is not in this timeline because that is up to multiple interpretations. This timeline is what is presented as cannon.HOO WEEE LOOK AT THIS MONSTER!!! AND THIS DOESN'T EVEN INCLUDE SONIC GENERATIONS!!
This took around 30 hours to make. You might want to hit that download button to even read it.Β I watched the Sonic 06 cutscenes and made a timeline from what I watched. The two Mephiles theory was confirmed and some of the plotholes that I thought existed were eradicated.
So do you want to use Sonic 06 for your fanfiction?? Or do you just like looking at how complicated Sonic 06 is?? Either way, I hope you find this useful! Try to wrap your brain around it. I barely managed.
And I now know Sonic 06 like the back of my hand. It's easily my 2nd favorite Sonic game. I only say this because the only thing majorly wrong with it is Elise and some of the plotholes. I can't judge the gameplay since I haven't played it, but the story was clearly well thought out (as seen here).Β

Not sure how old this is, but just wanted to say that the third kidnapping happens when Elise is returning to her castle after splitting up with Amy. Eggman knew she left due to the alarm going off and so went with a couple of his robots to the Castle in order to head her off.

honestly, even though a majority of the characters were portrayed as boring imbeciles (except for Team Dark), this could've a passable narrative at least, but there are no rules to the time travel whatsoever. Β That only made it even more confusing.

I agree. I think 06's idea of going the "separate story" route like in the Adventure games was a bad idea, especially for a time travel story. I think if it was presented as a continuous story, Elise was changed/removed, and the time travel occurred less often, I think we could've had a pretty solid Sonic story.

Give the time travel some rules, fix the characters..... character, give Blaze a purpose as well as not pushing her to the sidelines, and make the story as a whole enjoyable, then yeah it could've been much better. I still think it's slightly better than the story in Shadow the Hedgehog if only because 06 feels better in terms of structure and progression.

It may be beating a dead horse at this point, but holy shit was it a mess. It's the only thing I truly hate about 06 as a whole. Gameplay wise, it's not good but not the worst I've played. At least it tried compared to Rise of Lyric, Black Knight, and Shadow. It also controlled better than Secret Rings.
But yeah, if you want an instant headache, look at this timeline and try to go in chronological order.

Eh... I think Boom as a whole is very mixed. The show is fine for what it is, Fire and Ice is an improvement over Shattered Crystal, Shattered Crystal itself was meh, Rise of Lyric was just garbage. If it's a spinoff series then it doesn't offend me that much as a fan.

As for motivation, I wanted to do some research on the games and was curious about 06. When I started the timeline, I couldn't really stop. Β This timeline made me realize that the game's story was much more thought out than I thought it was. It's probably the most effort I've ever seen put into the story a main console Sonic game. Sure, it's not the best game ever. But hey, what they got right, they really got right.
