Description DOWNLOAD FOR A CLOSER LOOK

I wanted something to make the Eternal Legion stand out from all the other chapters a bit, like how the Blood Angels have the Baal Predators and the Space Wolves have. . .well wolves.

8D so the Eternal Legion get JETBIKES! Instead of normal bike squads mind you. And only Veterans get to ride'em.

As the remnants of the 4th company, along with stray elements of the 10th scout company, wander through the stars in their battle barge (which needs a naaaame. . .) other forces that have escaped the destruction of Bethsaida link up with them. The 1st Company consisting of a few squads of veterans was one of them. With them came the formidable jetbikes, a vehicle thought long lost after the Horus Heresy.

These craft float several meters off the ground, able to get up to incredible breakneck speeds without showing signs of stress. Their standard armament consists of two twin-linked storm bolters. An underslung hardpoint can be used to equip different heavy weapons such as heavy bolters, multi-meltas and plasma cannons.

It takes a great deal of skill and endurance to pilot a vehicle such as this, so only Veterans have access to them.

Hopefully this idea wasn't already taken :/ I already know Sammael of the Dark Angels has a jetbike and the Eldar already use them a LOT. . .

And I won't be making up any rules or stats for the because I don't actually play the table top game

Not bad, not bad at all. I like the different loadouts you drew for them. They look pretty badass and if they don't fit established canon, so what. You make 'em your own.

Yes, please. I'll send the drop point via encrypted communique.

Thanks again~ We're planning on using them for our annual all-you-can-eat, monster barbecue.

jorgeelmuerte [2010-12-24 08:37:40 +0000 UTC]

These look grand, but I'm pretty convinced that an assault cannon would fit better as a weapon than the average heavy bolter. I mean, these things most likely go really, really fast, so the piloting marine would have to dispense a lot of firepower in a very short time...
But heavy bolter is a classic, no arguing there !

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Blazbaros In reply to jorgeelmuerte [2010-12-24 08:39:14 +0000 UTC]

I think an assault cannon is a bit too big :/ because you know it needs a helluva lotta ammo. . .then again Terminators carry them too XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

jorgeelmuerte In reply to Blazbaros [2010-12-24 08:52:18 +0000 UTC]

It's true that the weapon doubled with it's ammo is heavy , but then again I'm pretty convinced that ALL the other weapons, multimelta, plasma cannon, etc. are pretty darn heavy too ...
Saying that, I hope we both agree that perhaps the most ideal weapon for this vehicle type would be the twin-linked bolter set seen with the normal space marine attack bikes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Blazbaros In reply to jorgeelmuerte [2010-12-24 08:54:59 +0000 UTC]

Well it does already have twin linked storm bolters, the underslung weapon is just there to pack an extra punch, even toward tanks

jorgeelmuerte In reply to Blazbaros [2010-12-24 09:08:00 +0000 UTC]

A hunter-killer missile would also fit pretty well, even though its only a single use weapon

canon be damned, these look great. gamesworkshop make decisions all the time because it make stuff sound cooler like the DA lone jetbike. there were a couple jetbikes (granted civilian models) in the Eisenhorn trilogy and Abnett is pretty much king of what exists in the 40k universe so I think some marine chapters could easily be keeping them 'for special occasions'

squirrels-are-evil [2010-12-22 23:46:58 +0000 UTC]

Normally I would disagree, because they remind me too much of the Eldar Jetbikes....however your design is right on, especially with the under-mounted weapon

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Blazbaros In reply to squirrels-are-evil [2010-12-23 01:01:58 +0000 UTC]

I'm tempted to give them power lances XD but I think that might be too much

precinctomega [2010-12-22 21:19:22 +0000 UTC]

Canonically, it doesn't technically stand up, as the jetbike STC is supposed to be lost (and Samael of the Ravenwing has the last one!), but to be fair, THAT doesn't stand up to logical examination, given the otherwise extreme common-ness of antigrav generators, from land speeders to servoskulls. Plus, your design here is *really* cool. Enough to make me want to see if I could build one... Too much to do, too much to do...

Question: do the ones with the underslung heavy weapons count as Attack Bikes, then? Because I would think they'd need to be a bit larger - perhaps give them ammunition "panniers" on either side?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Blazbaros In reply to precinctomega [2010-12-23 01:04:36 +0000 UTC]

You could compare attack bikes to the more heavily armoured jetbikes, yeah, seems to fit.

I could probably add a ammo drum or an extra generator just behind the weapon

Sehoolighan [2010-12-22 18:55:56 +0000 UTC]

Now I agree, every chapter we have seen (so far) have unique items or units that other chapters don't have, so for your idea of Chapter only jetbikes. As for an idea of a name for ze battle barge hows about, ze "Malevolent Judgement."
