Description In a distant corner of the land of something-or-other, there lives a curious tribe of mice which, oddly enough, makes its living almost entirely out of fish-rearing. Their ancestors discovered this had an uncanny habit of attracting feral cats, so over the years they bred the fish to such small sizes that no feline would bother raiding the farms. This put a bit more of a bounty on the farmers themselves, but that wasn't a problem: all mice are armed with a bow and quiver of arrowfish, and a sharp fish to the eye or nose is enough to make any predator turn tail and run (besides acquiring ichthyophobia, understandably).

Besides trading in fish, the mice also rear fruit. Their cherry farms are quite extensive, so many workers are required when the harvest is ripe, and there are tons of cherries to be pitted and dried. A common part-time job for young archers in training is in the cherry farms, sharpening their aim with the aid of a more blunt, but lighter breed of arrowfish. These are used to shoot out cherry stones - the less squirt, the better! The best archers are said to be able to take out as many as three in a row with nary a drip.

------------------------

Here we see an archer specimen transporting a bag of young arrowfish. This lot's inspired by ~bonnivin 's spiffing doodle of two cherries getting shot clean through by (what appears to be) a fish, and Reepicheep. I blame the random on pre-math stress.

Got lazy on the background, so I just left the wash. Yay for scribbles!

He must have quite a range with that longbow... (On a mouse-scale, it would be a longbow - if only a shortbow for a hare!)

This actually reminds me of Brain Jacques Redwall books.

Mm, yes, there is that, though I suspect those were more...fully clothed. Granted, the most I read of them was a flip-through at various bookstores! (Whoops.)

Hah, yeah they are clothed more, but just the standing on two legs and having a weapon made me think of it. I haven't mentioned what I thought yet =/

I think this is really good.

REEPICHEEP!!!!!!... Sorry - it had to be said

That is the most crazy story I have heard in a long time!!! And that's a great effort seeings as earlier today I created a new species of penguin with eyes for heads and ran around the house acting like a chicken... and also ran into a pole... that could explain my headache...

Beautiful pictur - it's sooo... perfect. Reepicheep is a brilliant inspiration I love Reepicheep

And where can I get me some of those fish?? I have a rather nasty cat peering through my window and I am quite afraid that he plans to eat me... help!

Excuse the random babbleness - my head is not screwed on properly today!

Yes Reepicheep is awesomeness, as are eye-guins ;D

Arrowfish may or may not be on sale by a hole in the wall at your local pet store. Bows (and archermice rental) sold separately.

Why do you not have three million pageviews? This is one of the most brilliant pieces I've seen in a long time -- so delicate, so detailed yet simple... Plus -- IT'S A MOUSE. Nobody draws mice! D:

I like this very much. Is this some story or idea you have? I don't mind helping you out in expanding it, be it character designs or environments. The story seems pretty well thought up too, i could use some ideas here (if you would let me of course)

I guess your promos are over?
