Was in the mood for some Hitchhiker art and this idea came to me yesterday while my Teefury design was on sale
Turned out pretty hoopy
(Modified to wallpaper size now)
Done in PS CS5, using text tool and pen tool.

hmm, perhaps the don't panic sign could be in a red or yellow shade, just to get more contrast with the Earth. then again, this simple version works fine just the way it is

Made an circular vector with a visible colour behind, then converted text to shapes one by one and modified them to follow the contours

You can make a text layer a vector shape, it's a right click option, then the standard vector convert point tool in Photoshop for the curves
