Description So this is my original planned contest entry, after this missed the contest, I decide to give more to this, and I decide to make it move!

I'm still think how melee attack should be done, though.

If you have any suggestions, feel free to say!

BTW, the preview sprite sheet is here.

Looks alright, whatever program you are using is making a lot of blur on the animation though. The angle is very interesting too.

For melee, do it in reverse! It looks like you could look at these for inspiration too.

I already looked at those. XD

For Melee, I'm thinking Lyndis style.

And for critical, what else? spell cards!

The program is ulead gif animator, do you have something better for me?

Oh then sounds good~ Looking forward to the completion!

It sounds like you can output GIFs from gimp . (I use Fireworks though so haven't really played around with that.)

I need some advise.
Watch this video.

I want to have her melee attack have that laser effect, both normal and critical.
But in the video, the laser can go across the screen, but Obviously that can't be done as a FE battle sprite.

What should I do to make it less unnatural?

(Supposed to be on hiatus, but will try and help once)

Probably what you want to do is what you say: have a laser effect. Keep it at that to start (don't attempt to do multiple lasers or have it go across the screen, because constraints won't let you it sounds like.)

Just do one beam to start. Have the solid animation completed (it works well with Lyn because she's fast and linear, so maybe try having the effect on top of her regular atk animation first). Focus on one point (either the weapon or the whole character). Have the laser start and end parallel to the movement of the point. I'll see if I can illustrate it with a muro.

Did a muro and it was more confusing than helpful.

My advice is just take the beam and play around with Lyn's animation until you get something you're happy with. To make it so it doesn't look unnatural, start with the laser very small and increase it to how large you want it, then shrink it to nothing at the end.

Good luck

Lol sorry that link is complicated. Basically just add all your frames as layers in gimp and then save as gif, it gives you the option of saving as animated gif after that.
