Description Thanks to the peeps who suggested fandoms for BM to visit in my last journal!

This is BM not enjoying the frolicking and songs of the elves of Middle Earth. Seriously, I probably look more like an elf than any of the other races but that doesn't mean I enjoy spontaneous songs.

BM also failing in Cry of the Icemark - I don't think there are any civilians in Frostmarris, just endless soldiers. I'd rather make bread or repave courtyards and stuff, to be honest.

Tell me where I should visit next!

..the citizens got evacuated, I think. The healers and what not are still there.

LOL, how about Alagaesia? You could be Angela's assistant or something. XD Probably not, she might poison you by accident.

She's pretty incompetent, yeah...I think there may be safer places in Alagaesia I could visit!

XD True, in Frostmarris there isn't much to be other than soldiers or serfs.

It's weird, they must have really short career interviews XD
"Soldier or serf?"
"Er...serf."
"Great. Next!"

You would kill everybody--or at least outsmart everyone and be the only one left after they killed each other, haha!

You give me too much credit - I'd hide in a tree for two weeks until the Capitol got bored of me and did something awful to me XD

Gotta admit, I'd probably do the same thing. In my imagination where I'm super cool, though, I would attack everyone in their sleep and be the winner in one night! *evil laugh*

And the answer to you Icemark query?
Isn't there any job that won't get me hideously killed in battle?
No. Suck it up, there's a war on.
I'd be exactly the same.
LOTR though, I'd probably end up teaching the elves all the modern pop songs, just to mess with them! Or, I'd be a hobbit. I may look more like an elf, but at heart I think I am a hobbit.

Stardust! Stardust, next!

But there's AAAALWAAAYS a war on! *wails* Why would anyone live there?

Can you imagine elves and Lady Gaga? I think Thranduil would be right into that XD You should do a hobbit one now, embrase your inner Baggins XD

OMG Why didn't I think of that!

LADY GAGA! Oh my goodness! Yes! That is amazing!

I'm getting straight on that. Thank you!

such a brilliant job with the clothing and poses! Not the singing! I'd rather be a human than an elf, as an elf you're expected to be noble and all that, as a human you can be as abrasive and uncultred as you like!

I've never read the Icemark stories!

How about Discworld next, be a Wizard for a day...with a fake beard masquerading as a man.

Thank you, I'm rather pleased with my elven tunic XD Spent more time on it than the rest put together. Id rather be human too, elves don't seem like the most fun people, despite all the singing.

I'd probably recommend the first Icemark, but the other two are just...well, pretend they didn't happen.

Discworld, coming right up!

Sleyf In reply to BlackMage339 [2012-12-14 17:23:57 +0000 UTC]

Lol it's a mighty fine tunic. Lol yeah they do sort of appear kind of...aloof and I imagine them to outlaw laughing in public...because you know a laughing elf would never be taken seriously, they have a cool and noble demeanor to uphold!

Aw thats poop then, there's no point reading the first and reading the next too but pretending not to have read them

To Ankh-Morpork!

Well, I never imagined it would be a trilogy - I think the first book stood well enough on its own - to be honest, I didn't really want anything more from the story, so if you're going t read them, I'd stop after the first one - it won't be difficult to do XD

Indeed! Into the smog and clacks we go!

Sleyf In reply to BlackMage339 [2012-12-15 18:20:39 +0000 UTC]

Maybe the second two were a "well I might as well go for three" idea...everyone else is doing it! Do you think it would make a good movie?

Hoorah!

BlackMage339 In reply to Sleyf [2012-12-16 00:53:59 +0000 UTC]

It would maybe make a good movie, but I can see it as one of these cut budget animated flicks from a totally unknown company, like the old Lord of the Rings, or maybe Don Bluth style? I dunno really :/ The story carries it, so it doesn't stand up to more than one telling.

Ugh, I know - or the popular "four book trilogy" trend >_< Trying to explain that to customers in a bookshop makes you question your own sanity.

Sleyf In reply to BlackMage339 [2012-12-18 13:49:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah but I imagine it could flop badly if someone got it and tore it apart. Oooh the old lord of the Rings, didn't they also do The Last Unicorn? The drawings were similar, oooh that would be great, I love those old animations. Don Bluth is more into cutesy stuff though, if it's all battles it might not be such a great choice lol.

"It's a trilogy" "Well what's this last book then?" "That's part of the trilogy too but it spilled over into a fourth book", and yet it's still a trilogy

BlackMage339 In reply to Sleyf [2012-12-19 00:03:59 +0000 UTC]

I really think it would. It would be an Eragon type of flop if it did, and I wouldn't wish that on my most hated book (well...Fifty Shades, maybe? XD) Now you mention it I think they did. I read that some of the animators went on to work in Ghibli, you can kind of see that in the design of the Butterfly. Don Bluth does do animals beautifully, but I still think it's gritty enough Maybe not for human violence though.

Yes, they say that as if it's obvious, and you think..."Well, the word trilogy has always meant three. You can't just bugger around with that."

Sleyf In reply to BlackMage339 [2012-12-19 14:59:26 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, that sort of flop, the type that vanishes into the woodworks because people are too ashamed to mention the "flash in the pan" fame that led to the flop. Oh that was awful! Never read that but everyone's going on about it...I wish that type of flop had happened to Twilight, then we wouldn't have to suffer with it.
Wow really? Yeah I think they had some asian influences with those drawings to be honest. He does (or rather the studio) I just always think "Troll in Central Park" lol, they did "ugly" well as well. Human violence might need some more visceral studio.

And of course you don't want to start questioning authors do you? You'll never hear the end of it. If they say it's a trilogy then let them think it is!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BlackMage339 In reply to Sleyf [2012-12-19 23:18:34 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the kind of flop that is never discussed and if it is, it's usually just the title and a facial expression. I haven't read it, but I have heard nothing good about it. Oh, if only Twilight had been struck down early like that...*wishes*

It's ironic that authors - technically wordsmiths - don't know the meaning of the word "trilogy" XD But yeah...no questions asked xD

Sleyf In reply to BlackMage339 [2012-12-20 13:54:49 +0000 UTC]

!!!! That's too true! Everyone goes "Eragon...ugh" *pulls face*. I haven't read it, my mum did, and apparently it's so full of description and it keeps going on about that stupid elf woman....enough already!
IF ONLY! i had to suffer watching the trailer for the last one and I couldn't stop myself from laughing, it was so idiotic.

They think that "non writers" or "Muggles" such as we, will not know we're being tricked..or that somehow we'll suddenly start believing that Trilogy means four "But they're writers, it MUST be right!"

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BlackMage339 In reply to Sleyf [2012-12-20 22:56:23 +0000 UTC]

There is SO MUCH DESCRIPTION in it, and it isn't even good description. I enjoyed it when I read it at first, but when I look at it now it is just so full of itself. The trailers for all the twilight films make me laugh, everyone in them just looks ridiculous and so over-dramatic!

We should rise up and reclaim the English language from these money hungry writers XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Sleyf In reply to BlackMage339 [2012-12-22 15:34:42 +0000 UTC]

It was a waffler then!
The trailers just scream "make fun of me!"

Nah, we should just release a five book quartet instead, you know...going just one book further, that one book should also be like...one chapter long, because we couldn't quite fit it in the last book.
