Ugh! I think you are one of those 90βs nostalgiatards who thinks that everything from the 21st century is crap. NOT EVERYTHING FROM THE 21ST CENTURY IS CRAP! There is only very few things that are crap, but when it comes to movies, games, and other things, there are a bunch if really good things. What a brat who always complains about things from the 21st century.

It's still better than being a moderntard who says the opposite. I also don't think everything from the 21st century is crap, but most of it is. You might want to do a little research on why people are nostalgic to begin with.

if it fails its not the century that fails, its people.
fashion? we are artists, aren't we? create, express ourselves. and others express whatever they consider art.
actually, the photos you've shared i don't consider the worst fashion of the 21st century. that japaneze fashion actually has additute, it makes life fun. haha, and it looks a tad bit scary. i like cosplay and anime, so. ..
music? i agree with that, but thats mainstream, i listen to.. something else. in the 21st century. hehehe. and i'm sure i'm not the only one. actually, many good things have been produced in the 21st century, they were, just because they weren't popular doesn't mean they weren't ( :
literature? manybooks.net - it just depends how you use the internet. books can encompass a depth that movies can't and i have a feeling that they are oftenly underestimated by the later generation. you could browse deviantart literature section and you can find awesome things. i'll gladly share an excellent example if you're into ghost stories like i am.
movies? i disagree, disney's FROZEN was awesome, disney's TOMMOROW LAND was fascinating (but i feel like the end was rushed and i don't like how it works out..), how about disney's RACE TO THE WITCH MOUNTAIN? i share the same opinion with you if you talk about 3D 'modern' movies, the ones overdone on the tehnical fx side but leaving out whats most important... also, twilight, yeah, far from a good vampire movie. i prefer VAN HELLSING. there is also a comedy of VAN HELLSING, hahahahaha. i still remmember the shaundelire scene. both one and the other are decent.
and stuff like 'lost'. hahaha, i can't get it who watch this? and things like 'survivor'. and things like that, tv is filled with them but there are decent things to see as well. like THE PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS, in color, directed by WES CRAVEN. i think the original was done 'at the end of 20th century', but they added color in the 21st century! ... maybe not a good example of 21st century accomplishment xD joke aside, many other good horror movies, and i don't mean gore, gore, gore, were done in the 21st century, i mean horror movies with deeper stories. not the sci-fi cliches turning haunting stories into C.S.I. style investigations.
behaviour? just because something is mainstream doesn't mean we should follow their example, i think we should give ourselves a little more credit then that. we should do what we like and be who we want to be (by the way, thats exactly the message barbie sends to the world). bad things usually get the most attention as people think good things are too common to be considered news worthy, for example. its one thing to take them (good things) for granted, its entirely different to completely ignore their meaning and existence in your life. for some reason, sometimes it looks bad things get the most publicity. but again, that is mainstream. if i can even call it that way. its that 'flock mentality' that seams to be the big problem of society, its like some people don't realise that their life is what they make of it. if there is actually something to say, then say it. just saying things are going down isn't really going to make us fly, will it now? i don't see any of the insanity, hell, i'm living under a rock, frankly i have better things to do then to spend time watching youtube videos of people picking their nose and then sending it out to all their friends over social networks. but i can share a lot of awesome stuff that we have in the 21st century. and the funny thing, maybe someone that picked their nose over youtube have also made some of that awesome stuff. it could even be that, if they haven't picked their nose over youtube, they wouldn't have made them...... life is more complex then one would expect..... all i can see is people waste too much of life telling each other how to live and not to live, when they could actually.. live. and let live, more or less..... much like when you hate that shit your neighbore listens to, yet you have enough understanding to know that not all people listen to the same kind of music yet none is really wrong.
art? see fashion. i think everyone should wear whatever they want. and everyone should practice to be the kind of artist they want to be and do whatever they want on their canvas, it really doesn't matter to me whether I will like it, it matters whether they will like their art. unless the only reason why they draw is money, then their drawings will be all about tehnique and satisfying the audience but i recall that thing called a soul, like, when you truely love that what you do and do that what you truely love, make it happen and make something amazing, money being a secondary thing if a thing at all, as you are overwhelmed by the joy of your own creation. then you can proudly present it to the world and who knows, make like minded people happy, or realise nobody cares.
today at times, it only seams as people care way too little about everything that i sometimes wonder what do they care about? not everyone of course, thats blind generalisation. still, i think it is not uncool to say: hey, this is so awesome, i love it. and be obsessed about it for months. thats what life is made of. and no one forbids you to live and be happy. politicians, apocalypse, wars, idiots.. where? children don't care that much about that. but they can watch the movies they like and read the books they want in peace. cause trust me, the world will not fall apart if you give some time to yourself. if it will, then maybe it should! in fact, the world would be much worse if we didn't!

Please read history. Trust me you're living in a better age.
Pre-21st century: Oppression of women, explicit racism (in america before the late 20th century, a black person could be lynched and parents would force their own children to watch telling them its good for them, slavery (women could be raped by their captors)
Pre-21st century; lack of medical care, most infants died after less than 10 years, Kings were oppressive to their people (almost the entire population was living in extreme poverty, The nobility were all sluts (men and women), There was more war than there is now (We just know more about the current conflicts happening), Being born with a deformity was a death sentence, Conscription
Pre-21st century; brutal forms of torture, executions left and right for even the most pettiest of crimes, executions were long and horrific, lack of sanitation, the threat of war almost all the time.
Contemporary art is just one type of art amongst many other Β types. If you want good art I recomend artists such as Danluvisi (on deviantart), Yuumei (on deviantart), Rahll (on deviantart).
Pre-21st century; new cultures emerge as others die. people find they're own identity outside of their homeland. Trolls? Ever heard of hecklers? They're trolls in real-space. people are more civil now than they were in the past. Religion was more oppressive in the past than it is now.
Bad media productions have always existed since people began telling stories. You think old movies are good because only the GOOD ones are remembered. there were bad ones you know. Since you live in the present, you are seeing both good and bad movies
Women's appearances have always been scrutinized by society. It was worse in the past in which they weren;t even allowed to show their knees. Rape was punished less in the past.
As for fashion...You think fashion is bad NOW?

Yep, it's a bit disappointing when you consider the hopes people had for the future. Β Then there's music and literature gone down the swanny I've taken to reading old books like "Fire and Sword" or "Taras Bulba" some Polish films like the "Battle for Warsaw"are great.
It's not entirely hopeless, i'm from a small town that has a massive Opera house, three theatre's, two art galleries, a working artists studio and later on we'll have the Wexford Opera Festival with musicians from across the world and it's all open to everybodyΒ

New Disney movies aren't worst, i like them ( except for live action ones )
Generally 3D movies? Why? Because is "Too easy"? I don't think that 3D is easy, you have to look at lot of details and give lot of money and is not animation that matters, but story.
"Wars and religion"? Do you even know that there was HUGE WAR ALL OVER THE WORLD AND MANY PEOPLE DIED?! And racism was bigger back then- black people and homosexuals had no rights and was payed less.
Pokemons. Seriously? So people can't like freaking show becaus is new? -_-

Okay, I have to disagree with you on this one. You're saying that in 14 years, not one good thing has happened? Not all new disney movies (*cough*Frozen) sucked, and Gwen Stefani was around before 2000 (I actually think she's good)
I'm a 90's kid, and you probably are too, but just because the new generation is different doesn't mean it sucks... you're probably only saying that because the things you liked have gone out of style.
Harry Potter conclusion, Attack On Titan, Adele, Mars rover, Vocaloid, smartphones, and countless other things are all huge achievements and overall good things that have happened this century. You can't judge a whole 14 years based solely on what you don't like.

π: 0 β©: 1
Deidara-TheTerrorist In reply to BabyZabuzas [2014-05-08 01:37:27 +0000 UTC]
TV shows and movies can teach people life lessons and morals, as well as help them relate to the characters and feel better. I have social anxiety, and Elsa helped me feel a little better about it, because I thought "Wow, finally someone in the industry gets it"
And AoT helped me realize things about how humans really do behave. We act fearless, but deep down we are scared and confused, and lash out at eachother because of it. Many shows/movies do nothing for society. However, it's the select few that do that make a difference.
