Digby awoke from his slumber with a jolt. He was drenched in a cold sweat and his fists were clenched as he attempted to sit up. Ever since he watched his beloved friend die in his arms, the memory haunted his dreams every night. Digby was afraid to fall asleep. He had a right to be.

"Arceus, your pulse is raging! If you don't calm down, you're going to burst!" Phrenic had attached himself to Digby's wrist, his new favorite clinging spot. He didn't like moving around himself, as it required too much energy, but rather stick to Digby with his new-found addiction to the move Minimize. Digby looked down at the star, wide eyed and shaking. "I-I ca- I could see… H-Her eyes…." He raised his hands to his temple and dug his fingernails into his scalp. "She's gone…."

Phrenic was not the mon to talk to about emotions. He hated them. He didn't know how to deal with them, let alone others', but he was the only one left for Digby to talk to. "I'm sick of your whining! She is part of the universe now, being physically present on this Earth is a sign of weakness anyhow! She wouldn't by crying over you, that's for sure!" Digby shook his head. "Carnifex…. I thought…." He clearly wasn't listening to the sea star, who was beginning to get frustrated. "And now….Conda…He was my first partner. I'm only h-here because of hi- Silvia…Why did she come he- She'll leave me too…" Phrenic popped off Digby's wrist and grew to his full size, arms crossed. "Now listen to me, foo-" He looked up at his human partner. Digby's eyes were wider than they had ever been with dark bags underneath. His pupils appeared dilated even. He was shaking, as if it were cold, but the air was warm and humid around them. The sea star stared at his partner and suddenly understood the emotions he was feeling. Digby was scared. He was lost in a world of guilt and death, shielded from reality.

"You fool….You have no reason to worry. No reason to fear. You are never alone. The universe is all around you, you just have to take it in. Let it sink into your body. Set you free from these emotions…" Phrenic gingerly wrapped his appendages around Digby in an attempt to embrace him. Digby's shaking began to subside as he realized what the starfish was doing. A weak smile crept across his face as he slowly closed his eyes. "Phrenic…Don't be like them…Don't leave…" Phrenic paused, unsure of the situation he was in. "Of course I won't, you fool. What would you do without me?"
