For Myths-and-Legends contest. The theme was "Smaller worlds" and I based it on scandinavian folklore- Hustomtar (Gnomes) These where small, michievous beings living by human homes. If you kept them happy, they would be helpful, but if you angried them, they could play some very cruel pranks. One way to keep them happy was to give them food (Although in this picture, they doesn't seem to get to keep it for their own...)
