I love how all those shapes are reading clearly, nice job with edges/values!

Thank, i have some terrible time getting edges and soft edges to read well. It's really something i try to get down. It's so important. I would like to get to a level where things look clean yet still gives some space to brush strokes etc... I'm beginning to also play with lasso to get some sharper edges...but it's harder to use it for naturalistic shapes.

Yeah, i'm also struggling with this. Your paintings however definitely show progress in this, so i'm looking forward to even better edges from your future works

I like the way you use the brown yellow to draw the eyes around the picture.Β

Haha i think i did this unconsciously. But maybe it's like that for most people too.

Nice I like how you rendered the foliage without using too much green.

Thanks, i guess without the pink accents it would look a bit more monotone^^.

Yea James Gurney talks about it for a bit in Color and Light. He even mentions priming the canvas with a red or pink gray.

Oh man, i really should reread the book know that i understand a bit more about the subject. I have it somewhere around the house, but most of it got over my head when i first red it haha. Really love james gurney.
