Who told you God was a patriarch? Sounds like you've been given bad information.

I have no problem with the humanitarian teachings attributed to the figure called jesus, just the organisations that have hijacked them and the religion that those teachings have come to now represent.

The contradictory nature of judeo-christian religion, the fact that you must come grovelling to this 'god' on your knees begging forgiveness for simply being born human. That you have 2 freedoms, the freedom to follow it`s word as a slave, with no outlook or opinions except those in it`s holy book or the "Freedom" to be punished eternally. The fact that the very things that make us the Human animal are "wrong". The fact that man is set apart and above from nature. The fact that is an exclusionist faith and that any other faith or belief is automatically by default "wrong" or "evil". The fact that the old testament is a book of hatred. The fact that the divine femenine is not aknowledged. The fact that your own soul is the property of some 'god' that wags a stern patriachal finger at us from distant, dusty second hand dogma. The fact that jesus, or if one is catholic - the pope is an itermediary between man and the divine as opposed to man experiencing the divine frst hand by direct experience. The way that many follwers when asked a question will reply with scripture or by saying "Jesus says" or "The bible tells us" rather than making up their own mind. That this 'god' gives us free will, and then would punish us for choosing not to side with it. And is that man alone in creation has free will, angels do not, thus making lucifer's rebellion not an act of free will..in other words this loving 'god' set up it`s right hand being to become the symbol of ultimate evil just because it needed a scapegoat.

He might have meant something else, but from what I hear, he meant to go to Jesus "and be a slave to His Words". Harsh, yes. Far too harsh.

not a slave to the words, but to the patriachal middle-eastern 'god' that they have come to represent.

There are certainly those who have, and still do, called him a patriarch, but they are and have been mistaken in every case.
