This isn't every step in the process as I started out with something very different to this. He was far more realistic and in fact looked less like Oro than just some random old dude. Once I showed my brother he pointed me in the right direction. I completely changed the structure of the face (keeping it much closer to the original design), but kept the composition, lighting and mood the same. I always knew I wanted this to be mostly monochrome with coloured glowing eyes. Thought the colour of the glow changed from red to blue.

From left to right you can see that once I had the basic structure in place it was more a case of refining, smoothing, adding details etc. It actually felt more like sculpting than drawing/painting. That's possibly due to the fact that this was done entirely on my iPad (in Procreate...great app btw) with an Artline Flow stylus (great stylus too). I would use a "wet" brush then use the smudge tool to blend it in. You can also see that in the earlier stages he was completely symmetrical. I pretty much only drew half of the face then duplicated and flipped it. It was only when I was happy with the design that I started to add in some asymmetry.

Had a ball doing this. His face is so unique. The bone structure, the combination of powerful yet ancient. Brilliant design as usual from Capcom.
