This image was soooo much fun to paint. The only slight regret I have is that I didn't shrink the triangles of the trident so that there would have been more negative space to recognize them better. But that's ok. Learn and move on ^^For those of you who like to know what materials were used:
I used a brush and india ink for the outlines. For the greyscale, I added water to the ink to dilute it and get different shades of grey. The gold is a tube of "Golden Artist Colours" of the shade "iridescent Gold Deep". I applied that with a brush as well.

this is really cool! I love the contrast
but uh.. where's the trident? (is it the big traingle in the back of the character? I thought that was just a random background done to emphasize the character >.<

I KNOW, I totally agree!!! That is the one thing that totally didn't turn out how I wanted it too. I looked at the Trident design and it only has very little space between the triangles. I should have just chosen and made the space between bigger so you could have recognized the Trident better.
But, it's ok ^^ I think that's sometimes the beauty of traditional art. Not everything is going to go perfect and you learn to be ok with mistakes. Then hopefully you get to use what you learn for the next image you draw

its like sometimes the mistake turns out to be something creative instead, which is what I believe happened with this piece. It didn't turn out the way you wanted but if you didn't write about what u wanted it to look like in the description I would've thought this to be a great piece with a fancy composition! "happy accidents"Β can only happen with traditional media
