This is my part of an ongoing trade with =Kieke-boe . She is sooo sweet and understanding, though I'm sure she never wants another trade with me again! I took FOREVER on this one. 'Course, it doesn't help that I moved to another state with my family, left my watercolors in a different state, and started college all in the time I was supposed to do this.About the Work:
So... here's a surprise: this wasn't done with WATERCOLORS! It's actually done in liquid acrylics.
Yep, them is acrylics y'all!
It was a lot of fun using something different, though liquid acrylics actually behave a lot like watercolors. The only difference is that they don't really lift from the paper once you paint them on and they seem to be a lot more vivid.
About the Trade:
This is Jonaii (aka Joe), Kieke's sweet little scaredy-cat woodland dragon. It has little bird friends that nest on it, so I thought it'd make sense to give his antlers these HUGE leaves for rain protection ^_^ The little raccoon doesn't want to get wet
As for the colors, I took a lot of liberties since the only reference I had for Joe was relatively uniform in the color palette [link] but my logic is:a) It's spring in my picture. April showers + Flowers + Baby birdies!
or b) I've given Joe chameleon color-changing abilities! Yay!
Whichever one Kieke likes better!
I am so bad about having rainbow-y pics. *sigh*

I mean I like this painting as well
At first, my eyes look at a lot of things put together (messy to my mind), not really realizing the details and even less the main character I named "this poor old"
Then after a few second of adaptation, the scene takes place, whit lots of details ingeniously displayed

Thank you for the compliment. I see that it's just part of my style to use tons of colors. I have a fear of monotone palettes, I suppose.
