Being primarily mixed media, I know EXACTLY what you mean.  It's why I attempt a painting now and then.  

I took several painting classes a few years ago and still am in fear of it

I have never taken classes, I'm a coward. I'm so cowardly that I have turned down having shows. Did it twice found it way too stressful. I do better if I think no one will see the work.

Mmhm....well, that's a hurdle that many artists have to overcome.  At least you post it here -- that's a GOOD thing.


And I agree, shows ARE stressful -- but it's a chance to share your vision with others.  I have 2 in the next few months and I am NOT looking forward to them -- I never know what to say.  But after the fact, it's enjoyable (if that makes sense).
