EDIT: I uploaded this to my own web portfolio with some close-up detail images of the dragon. [link]

Yeah, I admit. It's a total fantasy fluff piece, but it makes me feel happy and tranquil somehow. And I have no idea what set of circumstances could create a moonlit rainbow ("moonbow"), but I guess that's what makes it fantasy and not science fiction

I'm very happy with the way the dragon came out. I also keep wavering between very happy and very unhappy with the amount of empty space I've left in this peice. There's a part of me that hates to leave so much space open, but a large part of me that feels like it works here.

I tried to vary the amount of detail in the mountains to suggest some are further in the background than others. I'm not sure it worked, though. Oh well. This was pretty much a "just for fun" piece that I think came out pretty well considering

I did this largely based on a doodle I did on an oekaki-like application on Facebook called "HyperPainter" that version has been uploaded to my scraps: [link]

The hues just bring such a beautiful approach to one's attention. Your drawn into it immediately with the dynamic elements you've coordinated within your design. This concept is stupendious. I'm certainly enchanted by your imagination.

i really like the colors and how it all works together. ^_^ I think for the moonbow, it would look better to have it fading on the edges. Like, it's brightest where the moon hits it, then fades away. Every rainbow I've seen does that, so I'd imagine a moonbow would too.

And I'm fairly sure that moonbows happen, but no one's awake to see them! XD

I tried fading the edges more, but I didn't like the way it looked. For some reason, it kind of appealed to me to have this very strong, solid line right through the center against the soft edges of the rest of it.

I've always been a sucker for contrast

i see what you mean....but with it solid like that, it takes the focus away from the dragon....unless that was your intent....i could be wrong there...^_^;;.....

Hm. I'll have to think about it for a while. There may be another way to make it less distracting.

i wouldn't say it's distracting, it just seems like it's the focus of the picture.

Moonbows do, in fact, exist, but they're pretty rare. A real moonbow (as opposed to those lunar halo things you might have seen around a full moon on a cold winter's night) usually forms near a waterfall.
