Description Β© Ben Heine | Facebook | Twitter | www.benheine.com

This is another long exposure photo. I love how scary Caroline looks... If you wish, you can view a detail here .

This picture is the result of an improvised collaboration with my long time friend Stoff (make sure to check out his page , there are some amazing creations to view).

The silhouette on the left is me using Stoff's camera to "flash" the model while my own camera (placed on another tripod just behind me) was capturing the moment

Stoff makes incredible "orbs" by playing with home made light sources. Luckily, Caroline Madison was there with us... I first "flashed" her, while stoff was doing the magic orb in the middle of the composition.

I took this photo by night at the seaside in Hastings a few days ago, while I was travelling to the UK for an exhibition in London (Battersea Affordable Art Fair ). I lived in Hastings from 2002 to 2003, it was so nice to be there again!

An extra picture of this shooting here . As always, thanks everyone for the appreciated feedbacks.

Ethereal Tide

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

Beautiful bluish light
From the deep within
Ethereal tide bright
Gyrating in its spin
Love touch and feeling
We thought were lost
Thru endless wheeling
In its ghostly crossed

Soul in state of free
Where no one has been
Abyss deep symphony
Life has never seen
Occult shadowy places
Thu its endless ways
Light and shade erases
As time surges plays

Beautiful though gone
Never again seen
Darkish and scary on
Light of blue between
The hours wear away
None of them to keep
As the elucidation play
From the ethereal deep

If Earth rotated as much as the star trails suggest in the space of just a 30 second exposure, we'd all fall off

love how many things are mixed in this one
the circular thing, the half visible model, and photographer (which is always a plus for me), the stars...

Heine how much exposure time you used there? Can see it was long because of the stars...?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Stykkisholmur In reply to skormz [2011-10-26 03:24:00 +0000 UTC]

Stars don't move that far due to a 30 second exposure. That is if he didn't edit it or shoot with differently. Any fixed 30 second exposure of the night sky should only reveal the stars, and no star trails.

skormz In reply to Stykkisholmur [2011-10-26 10:19:08 +0000 UTC]

yep i know that ^^ that is why i asked if it was more than 30 secs
I do long exposure shoots myself (non-professional anyway)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Em-S5 In reply to skormz [2011-10-25 23:59:52 +0000 UTC]

according to the camera data, it seems like 30 seconds..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

skormz In reply to Em-S5 [2011-10-26 00:25:19 +0000 UTC]

Looks like more... i know that most cameras cant go over an number without a "hacking" program... so it might be around 2-3 more long exposure photos of the same place merged together...

Em-S5 In reply to skormz [2011-10-26 00:53:17 +0000 UTC]

I also found a comment that said it is a single picture

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

Em-S5 In reply to skormz [2011-10-26 00:47:14 +0000 UTC]

Well, he did a lot of editing to it, too...there's also a setting called "bulb" where you can leave the shutter open for as long as you want.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

skormz In reply to Em-S5 [2011-10-26 02:25:38 +0000 UTC]

Ahh I see ^^ My camera dont have that bulb option but I know i can download a hack to leave shutter speed for longer... CHDK for canon.
Thanks for the chat
