I actually feel that your design for the E-wing actually represents the ship's supposed Expanded Universe backstory better than the accepted design, from a visual language perspective.

Agreed, I feel the official E-Wing is a predecessor of the X-Wing, which they should have chose a different letter to represent. Your E-Wing really gives me the feel of the letter "E."
