Description

Here he is, my interpretation of the Kemetic God Anubis/Anpu.

To me Anubis is a very abstract being and represents the mysteries and unanswered questions in life, the concepts that our minds are incapable of understanding. As well as the harsh reality of life & death and the bleakness of our existences.

Leave a comment describing your view or relationship with Anubis if you so wish.

Anubis is quite cool. He is calm and he is taking care of people. I like him!

Yeah, he doesn't deserve the reputation of 'an evil demon god' that he gets.

Oh my this is beautiful!

I love Anubis (not because he's a canine) I have no idea why I like Anubis so much but I'm just drawn to him. Reading his story and seeing the why people portray him makes me super happy.

why thank you
Yes, I love seeing how differently people draw him. Some portray him in such a negative way and others in a very positive way.

Gloryraiin In reply to BelugaLu [2016-07-15 19:14:15 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome!

I've mostly seen positive! But the only reason why they would portray him negatively is because of his duty. Mummification, dealing with the dead and underworld everyone thinks he must be bad :..< But he's really not

BelugaLu In reply to Gloryraiin [2016-07-15 20:38:23 +0000 UTC]

yeah, the view that he is evil probably comes from 'The Mummy' movies. (even though I love them dearly)

Before I did my research on Egypt my teacher from year 6 left me with the impression that he is like the devil.

Gloryraiin In reply to BelugaLu [2016-07-15 22:41:53 +0000 UTC]

That's true!

Aww that sucks, my teachers never went in too deep about the Egyptian gods ;n;. My teachers always told me Hades was like the devil. (My school is all about the Greek and but I am not haha)

BelugaLu In reply to Gloryraiin [2016-07-15 23:46:24 +0000 UTC]

We only had one lesson on Egyptian Gods and the rest were about mummification which traumatized me at the age of 12.
We had a lot more lessons on Greek Gods which I quite enjoyed, but like you my teacher likened Hades to the devil as well! It makes me angry/sad to think that most of the kids in my class will spend the rest of their lives believing that the ancients were crazy evil, devil worshipers.

Omg xD

Why do teachers do that though?? Like... Don't spread lies because you don't fully understand something. Yeah now kids who don't do the research will forever think Hades is bad.

I don't know, maybe it was because I went to a christian school and they didn't want kids to think ancient religions are good??

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Gloryraiin In reply to BelugaLu [2016-07-16 01:06:34 +0000 UTC]

Well that explains a lot!

(But my school wasn't even Christian it's a really big school system with really old teachers lol)

BelugaLu In reply to Gloryraiin [2016-07-16 01:13:24 +0000 UTC]

It was quite a strange school because most of the kids weren't even christians and it seemed only the teachers were. Our school had a lot of international students from many different faiths so it seemed a bit odd to only acknowledge christianity.
(almost all of my old teachers have retired now)

Gloryraiin In reply to BelugaLu [2016-07-16 01:38:11 +0000 UTC]

That is strange I thought Christian schools had only Christian. :0

(Our school likes to keep the old teachers and they stay for a VERY long time. My old history teacher taught my mom and 12 anuts and uncles.)

I guess it's different in the UK, we were supposed to sing along to hymns in assembly and sometimes  it got really awkward when no one sang and all you could hear were the terrible tone deaf voices of the RS teachers. I feel sorry for those who are actually christians and are surrounded by people that make fun of their religion all the time.
(whoah, that is old! The oldest teacher I had was 60 before she retired.)

Gloryraiin In reply to BelugaLu [2016-07-16 02:19:21 +0000 UTC]

Aww, that sucks ;o;
In the US usually christians schools are just full of christians. In the north Christianity is not really forced on you and usually nobody gets messed with because of it (in my school at least). People are really accepting. The south on the other hand can get really bad.

(Yeah, I think teachers to need to retire after 60 xD I honestly think they don't want to deal with us stress inducing high schoolers!)

BelugaLu In reply to Gloryraiin [2016-07-16 02:31:20 +0000 UTC]

The school I went to is very old and is traditionally for christians but its open for anyone, our school likes to stick to its roots. I think a lot of us felt like it was being forced on us so many kids did not want to be a part of the religion, by high school most people made fun of it sadly. People I've met in the UK usually are accepting to all faiths after a bit of explaining. My Mum took me to a Wicca shop in London and didn't seem too bothered. c:
(you need to let younger teachers have a go, and a teacher that is not bored out of their mind teaching the same thing every year is also a good idea.)

Gloryraiin In reply to BelugaLu [2016-07-16 02:41:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh that's so nice!
You went to a Wicca shop? Wow! I've heard of Wicca but I don't know much about them. What was it like? c:

(Yeah I wish our school would just let them go. At least my history teacher is retiring soon. He needs to. We have a few young teachers that look like they are straight out of college. Some of are really cool but have a temper when it comes to freshaman)

BelugaLu In reply to Gloryraiin [2016-07-16 10:05:12 +0000 UTC]

It was very peaceful and full of beautiful things. I'm not Wiccan but I love their beliefs and perspective on life. The ladies running the shop were very nice and they told me they include Egyptian Gods in their practices, they had a huge statue of Bast in their display window. I felt very at home talking to them about Bast and Sekhmet. Are there any Wicca shops were you live??
(I'm leaving school and a lot of the old teachers are leaving as well so hopefully my school will be able to find some better teachers!)

That sounds wonderful and fun! I wish I could go check one out. Eh I'm not a Wicca either but I think they are pretty interesting!

As far as I know there are no Wicca in my town. They may be in serect or something or no one talks about them?
(That's good! Hopefully they will.)

apparently there are around 12,000 Wiccans in the UK, I've never met one my age though.
