Rainbows danced across her vision as they also danced across her back; she felt her skin stretching, nerves firing and the rawness of new bones, new muscle, new skin and something already trying to escape it, even before her temporary body parts were fully formed.

At this stage she could allow the magic to follow her designs without so much mental input, which was lucky because Alys needed all the concentration she could gather to fight the pain her magical efforts raged across her body.
