I wanted to give Kovu a differently designed scar due to the fact that Zira gave him a pretty hard whack and would probably leave more than one little scar on his eye... Poor baby

Also I have a headcanon of sorts. I like to think that Kovu's scars eventually fade away and grow some lighter fur back while Scar's...well scar stayed gnarly and fleshy
Some symbolism if you will... One moved on and healed while the other held onto his pain and let it fester
