Description
So, I've been doing MLP:FiM fanart on and off for a while now, so why not start uploading it to my gallery?

This picture is my submission for the first of Equestria Daily's current weekly run of Artist Training Ground events, based on the most recent episode, "Wonderbolt Academy". I decided to go with Tier 2 of the three available, the description of which was:

"Draw a non-pegasus pony learning to fly at the academy. With the influx of new technologies in Equestria, ponies everywhere have been innovating new ways to fly! Earth ponies are building wing saddles and aircraft, while Unicorns are perfecting their wing creation magic. How you want to go about it is up to you!"

I went with Pinkie Pie because she's fun to draw, and my first thought was a party cannon jetpack, because jetpacks are cool and the party cannon seemed like a perfect fit for Pinkie. Balloons for lift (not nearly enough of them, I know. They're magic or something.) and a Wonderbolts cadet uniform with goggles rounded the whole thing off. Unfortunately the scan faded the colours somewhat, but oh well.

Took a couple of hours or so, initially pencil, coloured in watercolour pencils and inked with fineliner.

(Also, Pinkie's cutie mark balloon colours are totally Wonderbolt colours. It was meant to be!)
