Description
This is as finished as this portrait is going to get.. I cut the file size down considerably, the original PSD file was over 100meg.. I am pretty pleased with it, since this is one of the first portraits I attempted in CS5. I am trying Corel Painter and taking a class to see which one I prefer for my digital work..Related content

After awhile all I see are the flaws and the things I should have fixed but ran out of motivation/ patience..

Well I preferred photoshop, until I started experimenting with the brushes in painter.. The red head WIP is allowing me to experiment with oils and textures that are amazing...

For a first try, this is great. Some parts seem a bit over-rendered compared to other parts, though. Especially the shirt, where it looks completely flat. The hair needs a little work. You should try getting the main values in before trying to add detail like that. The neck weirds me out a little too. The values shift a little too violently and the left side feels like it has too little contrast. It makes it look flat. Just work on your values a little more.
Also, try flipping your picture horizontally while working. There's some symmetry issues. The whole bottom part of the face looks offset from the top.
I really do like the eyes. You captured Clint's stare perfectly. The picture screams ornery bastard.
