There is only one reason they had Legolas in any of the Hobbit films, and one reason only = fanservice
He was a fave hunk and only one from LotR that they could explain (no matter how loosely) why he would be there. Frankly there's just a good reasons why he wasn't there, such as= asΒ the prince he could have a reason to be in Rivendale (be a ambassador discussing tradeΒ ect)
No they filmmakers decided to milk Legolas' fame with fans and add him in the films.
REally I don't mind that ... its how much and things they added= Far too much time on pretty boy, dreaded love triangle, that godes awful matrix scene of jumping on falling stones, him killing Bolg instead of Beorn, and that useless add-on line "Your mother loved you" (really such a nonsqeuter(SP?) WHY was it added?). ThoseΒ made me resent Legolas' addition

My muse is actually awake right now. She's just very lethargic. It's annoying! Day after day, I'll just sit there and stare at my Sta.sh without doing anything. Hopefully this slump will end soon.Β
I can try. However, the next couple chapters are not scenes from the movie but scenes that I made up. And they will mainly be fillers.Β

Well, we had to have at least one hunk make it through the movie.......right?

Of course. After all, he's in LOTR, but that's not the point. The point is since he was never in the book, he shouldn't have had as much screen time as he did. If you've seen the third movie yet, you know what I mean. The movie had way too much Legolas in it. And Alfrid too.Β

He's a disgusting little creep, isn't he?
But yeah, they really over did him the third movie. It gets rather annoying after a short while. Although he does have a couple funny moments (like wearing woman's clothing), I just wanted him to die already. Unfortunately, that didn't even happen. Hopefully it will in the Extended Edition.Β

But if Legolas wasn't in the movie and when the dwarves were in the Woodland realm, people would complain "where the fuck is legolas?" since he is the prince of the woodland realm and the son of thranduil

It's not the fact that he was in the movie that bothers me but how much screentime he took up. It makes sense for him to be present in the movie, but only as a guest star. Have him show up and do a few things, not have him steal everyone else's spotlight constantly.Β

Yeah you've got a point there. The thing about desolation of smaug and most of all the battle of the five armies... is the amount of screentime Beorn got, none at all, only like 5 seconds. I do hope we'll see alot more beorn in the extended edition

Yeah, I know! Me and my little brother went and saw BOTFA in theaters and we were both infuriated that Beorn was only in it for 5 freaking seconds and hardly did anything. That, and a whole bunch of other shit.
If there isn't more Beorn in the Extended Edition, I'm going to be pissed!Β

Yeah me too. Peter Jackson did promise that we would see a lot of Beorn in the final movie, i really hope he will keep that promise.

yet another brilliant one-does-not-simply philosophies! I am right with Boromir on this one, for I feel the exact same way.
As for your muse... WAKE UP! Β * slaps your muse silly * Β <-- hope that helps.

Indeed.
Don't worry, she's awake now. It's just my motivation that needs to be woken up now.Β

The funny thing is I didn't even completely become aware of Boromir's sassy smirk in the second panel until after I made it.Β
