I like this piece, for the sole reason that it shows that the "American lifestyle" isn't always as perfect as people think it is.

I'm going to be honest and say... I dislike this piece somewhat. I understand where it is coming from and recognize the problems that it approaches, but it feels like.... well, like all you did was slap a brand-name and a single face on me and everyone I know, where it doesn't fit, and said "Yes, that is your definition." Your recognition that it is a stereotype doesn't really satisfy me since, well, you're repeating and therefore reinforcing it.
So... yes. Your piece is fairly well executed (as is your entire gallery, you're quite talented) and made its point quite clearly, but I simply... disagree.
Do you really intend to do a similar piece for Germany as well? I think that would be very interesting.

I have to say that I see this every day. I, however, do not eat at McDonald's - out of sheer principle, nor did I vote for Bush, nor do I condone my President's actions (thank God that he can only serve two terms!), nor do I hate Muslims or any middle-eastern country or peoples for ~any~ reason (this coming from a veteran of the Army), nor do I think that most Christians understand what it is to truly be Christ-ian (Christ-like). I do, however, read a great deal, and on one occasion, I thought very briefly about hanging myself.
This is true art, as it evokes feeling within me. I look upon it and feel bitter. I feel bitter that others think this is how America truly is, and I feel bitter knowing that this is how America ~mostly~ is. Just know that there are a great many of us that don't fit this scene. Perhaps, as a personal favor, you could make an equally emotional work of art that shows the good things we have, just to balance this.
As a personal note to my fellow US citizens, I fully support anyone who wants to burn a flag in protest to our government, but if I ever personally see you let Old Glory touch the ground, you're in for one hell of a tongue-lashing at the very least. The flag is like you, and I'd rather see you fly in pride or burn in protest than lay down in complacence.

What does the Arabic on the wall say? Anyway, I don't see why people are offended by this. They need only take a look around them to see that this is, sadly, the prevailing lifestyle in America. While most Americans no longer like Bush, most still lead terribly unhealthy, environmentally unsustainable lives and are overly patriotic. I live in the Midwest and see such people all the time. And, as for the Christian bit, I grew up Christian and I know some very dedicated, peaceful, wonderful Christians, but the majority of so-called "Christians" in the US act nothing like Christ and are, in fact, examples of the stereotypical American. Well-done!

It really does kind of give light to the things people automatically think of now when they think of America... (in my opinion)... Sure there is much more here than what the picture depicts - but the fact of the matter is, we have lived up to a poor reputation over the past few years.

Hopefully this picture has emphasis on the stereotype of a culture rather than, literally, "America is killing itself."
Because I sure as hell refuse to eat mcdonald's, hate bush, am atheist, and I'm not insanely proud to be American like some people.
But I am American, nonetheless.

Wow, also so eine gute Photomanipulation habe ich lange nicht gesehen. Das könnte glatt als Foto durchgehen. Hier stimmt aber auch wirklich alles: Licht, Konzept, Arrangement, Objekte, Aussage, Details, Perspektive. Einfach alles.
PS: Besonders kreativ finde ich das versteckte Wort in den Pommes Frites. Das fällt nicht sofort auf.

Very nice.
There are of course a lot of cliches, but it seems like that's the point. Besides, living here you find a lot of bad stereotypes and generalizations that are more of a stately affair than something particularly public(of course they're not all true, it's not everybody, etc. whatever.), so it would definately be interesting to see you do German since you've got insider info.

Nice idea and composition. I like all the elements, but I have to say, some of them are unfair and cliché (mcdonald's, bush, christianity). I'm American and have nothing to do with any of those things, and to imply otherwise is just a bigoted generalization.
Having the french fries spell out "I'm Republican" would have been much more accurate and effective.
