Ahhh the P-40. It is only recently getting recognition for the actual contribution it made to the war.
Lacking the superchargers to give it the high altitude capability of the P-51, it recieved an undeserved reputation of being a mediocre aircraft by historians and writers after the war. The P-40 has only recently had a renaissance of sorts, and becoming appreciated for more than the Flying Tigers.
It is a wicked looking bird, isn't it?

I met a guy at an airshow who bailed out of a Lightning during the war. You had to invert the aircraft so you hung upside down, and then release your seatbelt to fall out of it. Apparently if the P-38 is right side up, the twin tail almost always hits you when you jump.
Just some cool trivia that not many people care about anymore, LOL.

Get good with an airbrush and you can. Even the original nose art was done with an airbrush by one or two of the ground crew who were artistically talented.

I use one from time to time, mainly to paint the occasional model kit. The shark mouth on this one is rather well done.

It's fairly easy to learn the basics. Pick one up and a book and/or some DVDs and give it a try. Better yet, get the BF to get it for you.
