it almost looks real the blue tone of the planet matches very well with the explosion, and the detail of the clouds is huge.

I commented on another artist that you worked with that some of his planet illustrations have been ripped and used in forum/website template backgrounds. Ive seen this one ripped as well for an IPB forum background image. I would look into it. I really like your work and it inspired me to do some of my own, keep it up! I hate seeing good work abused so please go to some of the major skin sites and look through their scifi or space category and look for this one. I know Ive seen it used without permission.

Thats a brilliant looking planet there, its dosn't even need any dramatic nebulae ot scenery to improve it. And the just off-purple colour isn't often seen either.

You pulled off some intense texturing there... any tips on how to do something like that with the land and clouds? I've got a project coming up for school that I talked to about, and he gave me some cool tips, so I figured I'd pick your brain as well. Thanks bud.

i think i took one of my large scale textures and used a color selection and various other selection tools to cut out the pieces that now look like clouds. then edited the edges so it doesnt look pixelish or fuzzy, then layed that on top of the texture you see below the clouds. i dont mean to say i only used two layers, but essentially that is the concept i went with. i'm not sure what else was going on, cause this is actually a planet from a pretty old piece. judging from your artwork you are very good with the digital painting, so i'd also try to produce a cloud map along that path.

Nice design but the stars behind the big flare are fadded out?, Maybe putting the layers above the sun glare might help.
