It is time for sleep.It is time for "I've
got work tomorrow."
It is time to fight
for the right cover
coverage and pillows
and skin that I never
dared to share.
It is time for me to
call the cat
one time
two times--
five times
and give up and turn
out the lights. It
is time to listen to
the dead sound of the
fan on medium speed.
It is time to ask,
"Are you awake?"
It is time to hold
hands. It is time to
try to cuddle like they
do in the chick flicks
I put ourselves in. It
is time to get too hot
and uncomfortable and
just hold hands. It is
time to roll over with
our backs facing each
other. It is time to
turn the pillow over
to the other side. It
is time to start to
giggle at nothing said.
It is time to tell jokes
in the dark, each one
getting worse than the
last. It is time to forget
the punchline. It is time
to start talking. It is
time to roll over and look
at our dark faces. It is
time that you can still
hear the stupid smile
on my face. It is time to
make me laugh until I'm
senseless. It is time to
make me breathless. It is
time to lose the sky
and the ground and
the time and only feel
you. It is time to get
high from each other.
It is time for "I've
got work in three hours."
It is time for sleep.

There's some very nice imagery in this but these few lines were my favorite part. I love 'em for the double meaning and the rhyming scheme but most of all for their simplicity.

i'm starting to really like this the more i look at it. i think i've revisited the 'telling jokes late at night for what can be assumed to be for a long time' but it was just so relaxing to just laugh and make him laugh that i really enjoy that memory.
