Descending from an ancient, prominent, and wealthy line of Rakshasas belonging to the Kshatriya, or Warrior caste in India, Subahu was a high ranking military official in several armies, before having to 'retire'. Now the current head of his family, he is highly traditional, proud, strict, domineering, and very powerful; and very much set on maintaining the honor and reputation of his household. This, however, did not stop him from tarnishing the very line he upholds by marrying a 'lesser' mythos, a unicorn by the name of Vivian Cunningham, daughter to an also prestigious British household who made their name in trade from India (Rakshasas are very proud creatures who don't like to mix blood unless its with what they deem an equally powerful species of mythos who share their lust for blood and violence).

A younger Subahu, despite knowing that it was a taboo to do so, married Vivian, though unfortunately the two fell out of love and split rather quickly and nastily...but not before having a son. Mordecai now serves as an unwelcome reminder of the blight Subahu brought on to his own family name, a mistake he can never correct and is forever secretly laughed at for in the Rakshasa community. Very soon after splitting from Vivian, Subahu remarried into another old line of Rakshasas and produced a second child, Kali, Mordecai's half sister. Since Mordecai is his first child and only son, he has been 'accepted' into the family, but with great disdain and contempt on all of the family's part.
