seems Starfire didn't notice she was naked.

Starfire in the original comics wouldn't care. As Raven herself said, "If Starfire could walk around naked, she would."

Well...technically...both versions of Koriand'r do have standards, as open and freeing as they are. Kori in the comics was more feline warrior-like (her alien race is descendant from cats, hence why she was made into a tigeress in Bunny Raven (or How to Make a Titanimal Disappear)) whereas animated Starfire has basically mermaid Ariel's personality. Despite Warner Bros. (which owns DC Comics) and Disney (which owns its version of the Hans Christian Anderson story and Marvel Comics) being rivals, both Ariel and Kori are redheaded foreign princesses searching for something more in life, only to find it in the arms of a black-haired rich guy - Eric's a prince and Dick Grayson is surrogate son to Bruce "Batman" Wayne, the wealthiest superhero vigilante in the entire DC Universe - and end up with daughters of their own (Melody for Eric & Ariel from The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea and Mari' "Nightstar" Grayson for Dick and Kori in the comics' alternate reality Kingdom Come story arc). Likewise, The Beast Within and Cyborg the Barbarian (both from season 3) have fairy tale parallels in Beauty & the Beast and Pocahontas for BB/Rae and Cy/Sara, respectively. Using an X-Men comparison, Dick/Kori and Gar/Rae are like Cyclops/Jean Grey and a mixture of Gambit + Nightcrawler/Rouge + Psychlocke.

I know that. But from the Animated series, Teen Titans Animated Starfire is more modest, though not by much. She has no problem showing off her mid-section and in a short she used her hair to cover herself when she was put in the comic Starfire costume

That's simply due to the intended audience. The comics are for older teens and adults primarily, whereas the cartoons are for families (intended for children, but other fans of varying ages remain a peripheral demographic). In fact, it is for that reason that Terra was made nice to begin with on the original series. After all, it's no coincidence that on the original TV-Y7 show, Terra is made more sympathetic, but on rated TV-PG TTG, Terra is as close to her comic counterpart as TV standards can allow, because you're not going to see an earth-bending jail bait sociopath of illegitimate royal history having sordid sex with a one-eyed pedophile mercenary in a show aimed at children and families...ever. Likewise, it is to avoid religious backlash that Brother Blood went from a satanic Trigon-worshiping zealot in the comics to the H.I.V.E Academy headmaster obsessed with Cyborg's blueprints as voiced by the same guy who does Dr. Drakken on Kim Possible (complete with "You think you're all that, but..." line when defeated) in the show. Not sure for the reasoning why Jinx went from an Indian shaman that remained a mediocre villain in comics to a reformed bad luck witch with pink hair in the show, though, but let's face it, the cartoon version did the Jinx character better justice than her easily forgettable (and all-too comparable to Raven, as far as design goes) comic counterpart.

You are right about the ratings. But I still prefer the Animated Counterparts to the comic ones. I thought the animated Starfire was more interesting and alien like than the original. And I like that Terra was made sympathetic, a sympathetic anti-villain is more interesting than a sociopath.

Terra was not necessarily an anti-villain. Season 2 was still based on Judas Contract (albeit that Slade was the master manipulator instead of Terra already working for him as a moll from the start, and where the original script called for Terra to have a teen infatuation for Slade - no doubt due to their sordid comic relationship and because Deathstroke himself embodies both the "bad boy" [bad guy] and "older man" [very old, since Slade was 5O+ opposite Terra as 14-16 in the comics when Terra herself instigated their sexual intercourse and those ages were basically retained in the show] concepts that some young girls are drawn to for whatever reason - it became simple subtle subtext, thanks to Slade's questionable comments ["Don't get too attached Titans, I found her first", "You are rough around the edges, but I could teach you to shine", "Because you could never give her what she needs", "We're united Terra, we fight as one", "Her body, my control", and "That's nothing compared to what I'm going to do to you"], how quickly and easily the geomancer ran to him after jumping to conclusions about the Titans when Robin used his detective skill and Raven used her empathy to unearth [heh] the earth-bender's secret of having unstable powers, and how the Aftershock pt.1's opener between Slade and Terra seemed like a creepy marriage proposal and acceptance speech) and even Things Change had a comic parallel in the short-lived Terra II arc.

They had a twisted father daughter relationship in the tv show. I think of Teen Titans Animated Terra as an anti-villain or a tragic villain you obviously don't. But that is your opinion.Β Β I've never read the comics, nor do I ever intend to. You seem to be doing the same thing that people do to Gwen and Ben Tennyson, their constant arguing as kids used as a basis for a perceived romance. I don't agree that Teen Titans Animated Terra loved Slade romantically, but your welcome to perceive that if you see that in subtext.

Gwen and Ben are cousins, so no thank you, and what's more, Gwen likes Kevin. But, I support the canon pairs from the source material in the series, because the series takes influence from the comics routinely and Marv Wolfman, the original comics' writer, was on board the show, so the original series was closer to its inspiration in that aspect.

Thanks (for recognizing that I bring up good points without arguing the facts presented therein). I know this is a year old, but the fact is, animated Terra did love Slade romantically too. In the original script for season 2, the reasoning behind Terra's defection was to be that she had a teenage crush on Slade, despite being aware that he was "one bad dude" (to quote Beast Boy). This would be comparable to Slade and Terra's comic relationship in which Tara Markov, at age 14-16, let 50+ year old Slade "Deathstroke the Terminator" Wilson fuck her.

They didn't. They just didn't mention it out of fear of backlash from concerned parents, due to the sordid taboo of the Slade/Terra canon relationship. Slade's comments and actions towards Terra during her initial appearance and eventual apprenticeship, coupled (heh) with Terra's irrationally quick willingness to go to him, despite being made aware of his being a bad guy, all implied that the Slade/Terra relationship was still in effect in the show itself.
"You are...rough around the edges, but I could teach you to shine."
"Why would she join you?" "Because you could not give her what she needs."
"What did you do to her?!" "Nothing that she didn't want me to do."
*The entire Aftershock pt.1 intro, which sounds like a creepy marriage*:Β www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bf7OnXβ¦
"How did I --?" "You didn't, I did. We are united Terra, as master and apprentice. We fight as one!"
"She wanted control and that's what I gave her. My control, her body."
"That was nothing compared to what I'm going to do to you."

It's no assumption. It's FACT. I have a comic-to-cartoon comparison between the original Tara Markov of the comics and her 2003-2006 counterpart from the cartoon, showcasing that they're not as dissimilar as many think. Bear in mind, her being turned to stone in the cartoon was, in effect, the family-friendly equivalent to her 1984 comic death following the "Judas Contract" story arc penned by original comic writer Marv Wolfman (who, incidentally, served as the writer-consultant for the 2003-2006 series and had to approve any and all changes done to his characters and adaptations of his primary story arcs) and her revival in the "Things Change" epilogue was basically a nod to the comics' "Terra II" arc.

There may be parallels but that means nothing if you can't actually provide written proof that Terra loved Slade.

TherealRNO In reply to Aang10 [2016-04-08 04:31:12 +0000 UTC]
But, I can. If by that, you mean proof of the original season 2 concept idea of Terra having a crush on Slade or actual quotes and such from the source comics that the show took inspiration from that directly had Slade/Terra within the pages, I have both. Just let me know which you want and I'll search for it.

TherealRNO In reply to Aang10 [2017-10-28 03:14:42 +0000 UTC]
I'd suggest looking up the original concepts for season 2. In it, the writers/producers lay out that Terra was drawn to Slade because she had a crush on him. For fear of parental backlash, this was never brought up aloud in the show properly, but Slade's comments that I posted were done as clear sexual subtext in reference to their source comic relationship.

Sorry but what you perceive to be sexual subtext I don't see as sexual. It sounds WAAAYYY too much like the rational of Ben Tennyson and Gwen Tennyson being in love because they argue so much. I have nothing more to say to you as I am tired of this argument.
