it does look rather amazing, but what I don't like is the way that the picture looks really busy, I prefer them where the lights make a simple shape or patterns, and it locks everything into place, but here they seem to be invading the scene, almost like a ufo landing. Maybe a different angle with a darker background area would be better, in my opinion.

Well I see what you mean. On the left of the photo, there is the main road of the town, so a lot of people. On the opposite point of view, it's was impossible to shot, because there was to much light.
And behind me, there was a building. Yeah, maybe I should crop the tree on the left.

Well, the exposure of the shot, hum, between 2-3 seconds at f4...
And about Alps shots, well, I really don't have a lots of that kind of shots. Sorry!
