Description Ajkara Italana Faslurin (Tala) engages a Priest Arnak in battle at the siege of A-Tykaar.

Rendered in DAZ Studio 3 Advanced.
Postwork done in Photoshop CS3 with a Wacom Intuos 4.

I worked on this for a long time. This is the result of 34 renders with a total of 31 figures and a lot of postwork. I hope it turned out okay. Thanks for checking it out.

So nice to see that Rolemaster is popular still in some places. I playtested Rolemaster Companion VI back in the late 1980's. My character Kayla Sorrowkin showed up in a few rules examples, as I recall. I really must upload some pictures I've drawn of her.

I'm not sure how popular it is, lol. I only know a few people who have even heard of it.

Your renders are unbelievable. Are they one-offs, or compiled as part of a story?

Thanks! Most of them are part of a story by Glen Schroeder and myself called "The Androssian Prophecy".

Thanks for the comment! I'm not sure exactly how long it took; I worked on it off and on for about 3 weeks. Tip: sketch it on paper first, so you have a working knowledge of what the composition will look like, and a good idea of how the shadows should interact.

thnkx for the reply....actually working with many figures and high textured props will take forever to render on my crappy pc...:s.....i think i might render individual figures thn work it out over photoshop...n beside the daz lightings r still a mystery to me (God knows when am i able to render a decent textured figure like the product renders)...!!!

Bad-Dragon In reply to audioscream [2010-04-16 23:37:57 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, I can only render 2 or 3 figures at a time depending on how much detail there is. That's what I meant by sketching it on paper, so you know where all the figures should be and the shadows. I layer it in the direction of the shadows, so I'll do 3 figures and then remove the one closest to the light source and add one the other direction. That way, when I layer the images in photoshop, the shadows are correct. I layered 34 images total for this one. Hope that helps.

ahhhh...thnkx thts wat i was lookin for...i was a bit confused abt the trick bt im nw sure...thnkx man....btw do u use any special tweaking for the armor to shine or wat???...im in poser 8 nw..but seems like im nt gettin the details of the armor textures as well as skins...if u could xplain abt it...i might come with a gud render then...

Bad-Dragon In reply to audioscream [2010-04-18 15:22:02 +0000 UTC]

I usually play with the bump map settings to bring out the detail. Try cranking it up to around 125%, and set positive up to around .3 and negative to around -.3. Adjusting the positive and negative values makes the texture rougher. And for the armor, just turn reflection up. I use DAZ Studio Advanced though, not sure how it works in Poser.

I am speechless...er...wordless! All of the time you put into it really paid off, the scene is just so lush and real it's just simply amazing. I feel like I'm right there with them, and the inclusion of all of the different people in different motions of activity make the piece come alive. Excellent work!

Excellent, I love your scenes! This is a great action shot. The background action is really good and gives the scene good depth to draw you in. I can see all your hard work put into this one. BTW, her armor is awesome! I'd love to see more of her!

Easily the best 3D scene I have seen so far this year.

"I hope it turned out okay"...??? Thats awesome! 31 figures and 34 renders... OMG! I get crazy when i have to pose 3 or 4 characters for a scene and must do it in 2 or 3 renders. I guess, that's the reason why 3D-mass-scenes are so rare. I often need 3-4 days to pose one character until it turned out as i wanted it and so i would need about 100 days for such a work... not speaking about the other props, lights, morphs etc. that would cost me the rest of the year... and afterwards i would be ready for wearing the strait-jacket

Lol, thanks! I think I've developed a pretty good technique for group scenes, but it still takes forever to do one.
