Description Hey everybody! Baconforbreakfast426 here, back again with another deviation!

After a long hiatus so I could enjoy the summer with my family, it feels good to be back on Deviantart! During that time, I also thought up and began planning a new MLP AU I feel awfully proud of: the MLP Cyberpunk AU! Just to be clear, this doesn't cross over with Cyberpunk 2077. It simply takes place in a futuristic version of Equestria where magic is replaced by technology. But you might be asking yourself how something like this could come about? Well, having survived my mind going to Hell and back and now understanding how far the human mind can fall if we let it, I do have a good idea. Thus, let's move into the origin story of the MLP Cyberpunk AU.

Once upon a time, in the colorful land of Equestria, there were two regal sisters who ruled together and created harmony for all the land. To do this, the eldest used her ancient powers to raise the sun at dawn. The younger brought out the moon to begin the night. Thus, the two sisters maintained order for themselves and their subjects, all the different types of ponies. However, as time went on, the younger sister became resentful. The ponies relished and played in the day her elder sister brought forth, but shunned and slept through her beautiful night. One fateful day, the younger Alicorn refused to lower the moon to make way for the dawn. The elder sister tried to reason with her, but the bitterness in the young one's heart had transformed her into a wicked mare of darkness, Nightmare Moon. She vowed that she would shroud the land in eternal night. Reluctantly, the elder sister harnessed the most powerful magic known to ponydom: The Elements of Harmony! Using the power of the Elements of Harmony, she defeated her younger sister and banished her permanently in the moon. The elder sister took responsibilty for both sun and moon and maintained harmony in Equestria for quite some time, but the same could not be said for her own psyche. The loss of her older sister instilled intense grief into the elder Alicorn, and overtime, this ate away at her sanity and confidence. Her mind began assaulting itself, making her feel like her subjects didn't appreciate her and that she didn't even deserve such attention. The ponies never truly related or comforted the princess, and the princess never reached out as she gradually became more cruel to Equestria out of pain. One fateful day, the princess refused to lower the sun to make way for the night. Her subjects finally had enough and stood up to her, but the bitterness in their ruler's heart had transformed her into a wicked mare of destruction, Daybreaker. She vowed that she would use the sun's rays to burn and kill all life in Equestria. The citizens and royal guard fought valiantly for their homeland, but they were no match for the monster their ruler had become. One by one, they fell to her immense power. Even ponies who weren't fighting were getting massacred by Daybreaker and the sun's burning rays. However, the resistance soon gained a fighting chance in the form of three pony friends: an earthpony, unicorn, and pegasus, ready to stand strong against their now corrupt ruler. Thus, the final battle commenced. Many lives were lost, but eventually, the three friends retrieved the Elements of Harmony and, using their immense power, banished Daybreaker permanently in the sun. However, their land was completely decimated with so many lives lost, it was a miracle ponykind was able to survive. They never wanted something like that to happen again, and regretfully, they posed a solution. Using a powerful spell, the three friends destroyed all magic in their world, reverting the world to a natural function. Magically fused creatures split into their normal parts, and creatures intrinsically linked to magic, like dragons and changelings, vanished into thin air. This also extended to the two banished sisters, who burned and froze to death in their interstellar prison. It was a great sacrifice, but after the carnage Daybreaker unleashed onto the world, it was a sacrifice worth taking. Equestria and its surviving species learned to survive in the magicless world, though with magic and flight lost, wings and horns disappeared from ponies over hundreds of years. The three friends took over Equestria and formed the Equestrian Rulership Council, which has maintained harmony in the land for genrations since.

Well, that was a mouthful. Character bios and stories for the MLP Cyberpunk AU will be published at infrequent intervals in between other projects. I've already formulated how the mane six and Spike will be in this AU with the extreme changes, like no wings or horns or dragons, as well as the equivalents of Celestia and Luna, given the originals are dead in this AU. Yeah. Pretty much everything I write turns into a dark mess. It's inevitable, and I'm fine with that.

Also, if you're currently battling depression, think you might have it, or haven't even reached depression yet, listen to what I'm about to say. Depression is no joke. We might say there aren't any magically powerful threats in our world, but there are. They live inside of us, and they often win. If you are or ever do struggle with depression, don't keep silent. Speak up to your family, friends, school psychiatrist, or anyone you trust with that information. And of course, there's the Suicide Prevention Hotline. I made the mistake of keeping silent, and like Celestia, it drove me to insanity and corrupted my mind over years before I realized what was happening, spoke up to my family, and banished my depression for good. You don't have to be perfect at communication, so don't worry about that. I still struggle with communication to this day, and though that sometimes contradicts with my efforts to help others, I keep pushing on. However, when you do speak up, you have to make sure you're in a good or at least decent headspace, as doing it when you're in extreme distress can lead to the angsty words and thoughts associated with depression instead of an honest expression of feelings. Contrary to popular belief, depression doesn't make you sad all the time. Depressed people can still have happy moments, although their overall joy does decrease overtime (kind of like a bouncing ball losing momentum), so try using one of these happy moments to speak up about your feelings. I know from personal experience that doing it then instead of in a moment of distress is much more effective. Also, here's one thing you likely didn't know about depression. It can actually warp your reality in such a slow and subtle that you might not even realize it, so make sure to keep an open mind when speaking up. There are two sides to every story, and hearing someone else's perspective can make you see issues on your end you didn't even realize were there. You're not your own attorney in this situation, so don't act like it (but also make sure to be kind with yourself). Ignorance of the other side won't change a thing for the better. This very concept of improper communication has led to real life disasters that have killed countless people, for crying out loud. Trying to face it on your own is more often than not just a temporary band-aid, and band-aids do not fix bullet holes. Listen to Taylor Swift. Also, another quote from the Stupendium is one I feel represents this concept perfectly.

"Build your tower too high, don't be surprised when there's no oxygen"-The Stupendium, 2020

Another tip I implied but never said was not to wait for things to get better. I bring this up because the advice "Things will get better. Just you wait." has been circulating for as long as I can remember, only it's misleading and doesn't work. Don't get me wrong, patience is a more than acceptable virtue in modern society and should be encouraged, but when battling depression? You tell a weather-controlling unicorn to summon a category 5 hurricane in the middle of the Sahara,  and they're gonna tell you to go fuck yourself. Excuse my foul language, but I am just so frustrated with the waiting advice. Depression isn't something you wait for a solution to some along. It's something you have to find and attack the root of the problem in order to solve. We've all been taught that the point of learning history is to keep it in the past, and it's the same case when battling depression or any kind of mental illness, hence why I shared my experience with all of you. Once again, help is everywhere you look, even if your mind tries to trick you into thinking otherwise. We live in an era of video chat, the internet, and better mental health care than ever. Help is only a call away. Like I said earlier, the Suicide Prevention Hotline is available if necessary. Here's the international number:
800-273-8255

Anyways, that's all I have for now! This is Baconforbreakfast426, signing off.
