I wanted to make the tail short and fat but that lead to it being being blended in with the rest of the body and hidden away by the thick layer of feather. I was gonna separate it to make it more visible, but I found this version much more appealing.

The fossil of the animal itself is pretty incomplete, so I wouldn't know, however most reconstructions are depicted with it having a short tail. In the end, it's all just mostly fancy speculation.
