Description 2008 Acrylic on Bockingford Paper

In California during the fall months arise the Santana Winds, strong dry winds from the east that funnel through the canyons of the Santa Ana Mountains, causing arsonists to go mad and set fires in the hillsides of Orange and Los Angeles counties

The Winds blow, sometimes harsh winds very Harsh, the heat too but oh i can't help think of the Mission San Juan Capistrano Established in the Valley...remember 1776...you know, i should've been born in America. wrong country, wrong time.. Ah Capistrano. i wish i could return like the Swallows. You know, i always felt A connection with the mission even though i never been.. i came up with the name for the band because of my affection for that place... Santa Ana..lovely Area

Ok this has that chaotic harshness that gives the impression you really have a disdain for the winds ? and obviously the fires that start. i can see that in your painting. perfectly Calm and controlling at the lower part of the frame but as we follow the painting towards the upper part it becomes apparent, this is erratic and chaotic, colours and shapes flare out like angry flames. something you loathe about this place?, but that's just rambling...

makes me want a coffee now looking at this painting for some reason. nice art man.

Not rambling, you've deciphered my painting perfectly. Yes, the forms sre heavy at the bottom, erratic and delicately chaotic at the top. The colors aren't at all appealing as the fire begins to eat away at the trees and houses.
You're also right, I don't like the Santana Winds because they are unhealthy and dangerous. The only good thing is that they blow away the marine layer and it's sunny and warm at the beach. Not a normal situation for California.
Your Capistrano comments are very timely. Today is St. Joseph's Day, the day the swallows return to the mission. It's a realy touristy thing.

Ah, well i'm glad i found the connection within your Artwork.

now you've explained the features in a more direct way i fully understand your sentiments.

Well Wayne that as totally unintentional about me Mentioning Capistrano and then you mentioning the Swallows returning to the mission, that awlays got me about those Swallows. So now, i usually don't like to blow my own trumpet and force anyone to listen to my old Songs that were written for the Capistrano Birds but a song i wrote with my fellow band mate and Drummer who's Also called Jim, who is really a Hip-hop Artists and one of the best in my mind. So, Jim came to me one day with a Basic Melody, Chorus, i taught him how to play basic acoustic so he was tinkering away and had this melody and some lyrics - didn't know where to go next with it so i took it board and turned it into , 'Return to Capistrano'' Song', i'm not aware if you've listened to it but here's the link,  soundcloud.com/thecapistranobi… Me and Jim are Singing at the Start up until Jim Takes over with the Rip section in the Track mid way, usually where the middle 8 goes after that on the last Verse. Tom, Dan, Jim and me all sing together and finish with the ooohs aaah' mamas, whatever it was back then, so have a listen if you want, i haven't listen to this song for a very long time and listening now.

Those days are horrible. I remember the winds would bring 5% humidity. My nose was always dry, sometimes bloody. My skin needed constant moisturizer. The news was filled with images of the fires. Sometimes I could see the flames on top of the hills near my home. Another thing I don't miss about California!
