Description More original artwork by me~! ^_^ Faeries are always uber-popular artwork on this site, it seems. I've seen a lot of them but one thing I haven't seen is a darker faerie. I don't mean "dark" as in evil or bad. I mean in skin-colour. Most faeries are fair but I have not seen one that is darker complected. So I just started to doodle away & came up with this concept. She looks a bit Indian-ish (as in India, of course!), thus is the reason I gave her such a name (which is a flower name in Indian). I've seen the Indian/Hindu paintings & they are very bright in colour, so I had fun making the colours bright in this painting. As for the flowers, they are nothing in particular. I just drew them & coloured them as I pleased.

If I actually have new people looking at my artwork (!), my style is in manga (Japanese comic/graphic novel) style. Though, I do have my own unique look, which is good. I've looked & researched a lot of mangaka & am pleased to know my style is original.

Hope everybody likes it!

Artwork (c) J.E.McNeese. Do not copy & steal this image. Do not put it on another site without my permission. Art thieves are nothing but lame, untalented, low-level forms of scum! Stealing is so uncool. I've seen it happen to many times.

Thank you so much for commenting on this! I wanted to do a faerie that was totally different than all the usual faerie artwork (where they are all fair).

Glad you like the colours. I got inspired by the traditional artwork from India & decided to make a faerie based off of it (since faerie artwork usually features fair-complected faeries) & also mixed manga-style into the work.

She really is wonderful, I'm so glad you stepped out of the traditional "faerie box" and drew a unique and lovely faerie!

I'm sorry I haven't been around to comment on this yet. I REALLY like this picture! Original characters are so much fun; I love seeing them. The hindu look to her is very nice; I especially love that fabric at the bottom (is it a brocade? Looks like it could be ) that fades into pink ^^ very nice effect!

It's not brocade, but I actually don't know what it is. What is sari material made out of? *Clueless* I always see that type of fabric with gold detailing on the bottom & I tried to do that. Thanks for the comment, though!

Amazing! I really, really love this. The pose is so lively and yet a bit secretive. The hair is so shiny and detailed, and her expression is really very uplifting! That background with the roses and sun image just set this image. I propose a print made of this one! I'd buy it for certain.

Awesome job! I am so in love with Indian style - it's so colorful and beautiful. And I like how you made a darker skinned faerie, utilizing that style. I love the bangles and the background fits the style really well!

Thank you so much, Aliena~! Yes, I never see faeries that are darker complected. Usually they are fair, so I just wanted to do something that was a tad bit different from the norm. ^_^

Ha ha...the other day, one of my friends heard a song & was like, "Is that Japanese?" Um, no! Oooo, sari's are very beautiful. I love the fabric for them. Yeah, that would be really neat if you made one!

Many thanks! Yeah, the colouring is pretty bold. I like those Indian/Hindu paintings & their bright, happy colouring. Oh, glad you like the way I coloured in the wings. I had no clue what colour I wanted to make them & at first, I was going to leave them white. Then I thought it looked horrid, so I put in the light purple & blue.

X3 White is nice and all, but for shading it would need grey... D: So the cool colors are an excellent choice. X3

Hmm, you're right...they do resemble carnations just a tad bit, with that colouring. Thanks for the comment on this. I'm glad you & a few others still find my artwork worthy. I'm still so uninspired. I think this is going to be the last thing I submit for a while.

Thanks for the comment & the ! Roses, eh? Yeah, I suppose they do resemble roses (the only flower I can draw pretty well). I had fun painting this....so colourful. That & I had brand new inks to do the lineart. It's fun working with coloured inks.
