My OC's

Death was summoned from his cold and dark realm.

Yet another soul was to be claimed in the land of the living.

Death gazed over the unknowing, breathing and lively people as he wandered down a street..

Death let out a mournfull sigh as he entered the home of the unlucky soul.

He had grown tired of the pityfull mourning and cries of the people left behind in grief, once he would leave that area with his freshly claimed soul. He was bound to hear them.

As he turned the corner and feeling that he got closer to the poor soul he was going to take, he laid his holow eyes upon something so devine he could not think for a moment. As he stood tall in the doorway and kept gazing at this creature, so elegant and pure, he felt a gentle tingling deep inside his skull..

He moved silently closer and closer until he hovered over her, he could see that she was asleep. This,. this young woman was supposed to die "very quietly" in her sleep..

She had laid herself to rest in a big lounge upon a soft chair.. It seemed that she had fallen asleep whilst reading a book.. The candlelight flickered slowly through the room.
Sliding over the walls and over her face.

Death let out another mournfull sigh, for a moment forgetting that the one that is to be deceased can see and hear him..

The young woman with hair dark brown and smelling of honey, slowly opened her bright emerald eyes.

Blinking a few times before eventually looking around the room..

Death would have held his breath if only he could breathe..

She looked right into his hollow eyesockets and smiled ever so fine..

This fair maiden did not give the reaction he would have expected or one wich he was used to..

Death wrinkeled the thin and pale skin on his forehead as he tried to understand what was happening..

The young woman got up from her chair and said to Death she had dreamt about this night, about this very moment for years, so long and vividly that it had become a fine thought, going along, with Death..

"I have made my peace with it" she said..

Death could not stop gazing at her in wonder. He before had taken young children, baby's even, young men and women. Then why would it this time be any different?

Why would she be different? He could not think of taking her soul. It made his dusty bones feel even colder. whatever the living may say about dying in your sleep,

it is the utmost painfull thing a human can expierience, the soul that is being seized from the body, especially when it is in a deep sleep.. Anyhow, if he were to take her soul, he would first have to make her sleep again, because that is how it was fated to happen..

She looked at him with a lovely smile and told him that it was okay, she was ready.
Never had he encountered someone so willingly, serene and untroubled..

He looked at her living body one last time.. And Death fell in love with her...

Hi there! Thank you very much for this critique!
It is very much appreciated.

I love how you have described all the things you like in such a nice and colorfull way!

Now on that banner, I know that the wrinkles don't go well with the writing on it.
But that was on purpose, you know, I'd like you to see it more as if the banner is a background for the scentence, like it is all floating over each other.

And about her "red fingernails" it's not so much that I painted them red, it's more like I like to give a red- pinkish color to all extremities, like her nose, fingertips, lips, cheekbones, shoulders, colarbones and such.. But I can see why that you would think they were painted fingernails

And on your last remark I don't have an answer,. That's something for the reader to decide,. Why she would have to die..
Some people just die, strangly enough. And you don't know how it could've happened.. So I'd like it to be a mystery of some sorts.

Anyhow. Thanks again for your lovely critique

Thank you for the Llama Badge. But most of all, thanks for the opportunity to see your work here. I love your work! The thought that Death has a heart is interesting indeed. I believe that great periods of innovation begin with innovations in art. But great innovations can occur during periods of great loss.

During WWII millions of people died who believed that the world will soon end. During the same period, jet propulsion was invented and later took man to the moon. We should not overlook the possibility that intelligence has been moving from one body in space to another for a very, very long time. And that we may have been created to take intelligence further in space.
