you do know bmo is a guy right?...in that episode where they were all going to watch movie...but then they couldn't cause of copyright or whatever..so finn and jake made their own and then they fought over romantic comedy or action...they called Bmo a "him"..

In Conquest of cuteness, Finn calls BMO "M'lady." In another episode, Princess Bubblegum refers to BMO as she. In episode "Five Short Graybles," when BMO is talking to itself in the mirror, it refers to itself as a "little, living boy." Also, in the episode "Guardians of Sunshine," BMO is referred to as a "he" by Sleepy Sam.
Adam Muto said none of that matters because BMO is actually genderless. This is further evidenced in "Fionna and Cake" when BMO is briefly seen in the tree house and has no noticeable differences in design, making it the only character not to have a swapped gender counterpart.
It matters even less when you consider that half of the fanart of this show is gender-bent characters.
